(More customer reviews)My parents recently needed a new computer after theirs finally bit the dust. After reviewing the desktop computers that I thought would fit their needs, I came up with either this HP Pavilion or an E-Machine. I decided on the HP Pavilion for a number of reasons including the amount of memory and processor. I had purchased an HP laptop last summer and have not had issues with it, so I was okay with the HP brand. Up until then I was always a Dell guy and as a former IT guru people are always asking me what computer to get. This HP Pavilion comes with 3GB of memory and more hard drive space than my parents (and likely yours) will ever need. The computer has a small footprint which is nice, and comes with a new keyboard and mouse but no monitor. I setup the computer in about 30 minutes and was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't too much "junk ware" installed. I did have to uninstall some junk and other trial programs like Office 2010 and Norton. I was impressed with the speed of the computer running Windows 7 as well. If the computer will last a few years without any issues, I think this will be a great deal considering the price of around $400. It does come with a one year warranty from HP. So, here are a few pros and cons for you to consider when thinking about purchasing this computer.
Pros
+ Small Footprint
+ 3GB Memory (Plenty For Most Home Users)
+ 640GB Hard Drive
+ USB Keyboard and Mouse
+ AMD Athlon II 250 Dual-Core Processor
+ Windows 7 Home
More than enough power for most home users.Cons
- Hardcore Gamers may want more memory.
Not much of a negative for most home users!Bottom Line: For most home users, this computer will fit their needs easily. Considering the price, I doubt you could go wrong. If you really want assurance, just grab the extended warranty available here from SquareTrade.
