Gear Head Wireless Keypad + Optical Mouse Review

Gear Head Wireless Keypad + Optical Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nice features include the on/off switches on both the keypad and mouse, backspace, and vol. control buttons. No S/W driver CD required to use this - just plug in the USB base/transceiver. Mouse has two buttons and a scroll wheel. The USB/Transceiver has a snap for connecting it together with the keypad for storage.

Once or twice the keypad did not immediately attach to the USB base transceiver, requiring that I press the "connect" button on the bottom of the keypad - probably RF interference w/ my other wireless keypad. Didn't have trouble with the mouse attaching.

Mouse movement overall is pretty smooth.I tried using the mouse with both Windows XP and Vista. The first time I tried the mouse in Vista it was .1% intermittently jittery, and sometimes the mouse button was not responsive, and I had to click it a second time. I haven't been using this very long, so I'm guessing that's attributed to RF interference from my other desktop keyboard. This is only a minor nuisance so far for me.

(note: I tried the mouse later on a second time with both XP and Vista, and it was very fluid and responsive)

The mouse is small and narrow - about half the size of a normal mouse. Movement for its size is tolerable, but I have to lift my hand off of the mouse and hold the thing by the tips of my fingers to use the scroll wheel or click buttons. I suppose its size is useful when sitting at a small desk or small coffee table.

The USB/transceiver's cap does not snap onto the back end of the transceiver, making the cap easy to lose when connected to a PC.

As for Vista compatibility, both keypad and mouse are working with Vista on my Dell Inspiron laptop.

I didn't have problems with the keypad reported by other reviewer(s), but I did notice that due to keypad size, it is sometimes possible to press two keys at the same time.Otherwise, I didn't experience any negative aspects using the keypad.

In summary, this is a great value for travelers on the go. Everyday desktop users will not like the small mouse.

Since this was an used item this review won't carry much weight for a similar new product. Never-the-less, the reason I bought this CPU is that in spite of the fact that AMD says it is a single core "Sargas" processor, it is in reality a dual core "Regor" processor with one core disabled. If this chip is installed on a motherboard with an AMD SB710 (or SB750) southbridge that second core can usually be unlocked. In this case the unlocking was accomplished without a hitch or any instability in the processor, so now I have a 2.7GHz dual core processor for about half the price of the actual Athlon II x2 CPU. My Windows Experience Index went from a 4.1 to 5.5. The 4.1 was with the disabled core and was the CPU's rating. The 5.5 is with the second core unlocked, however 5.5 is the rating of my video card (the Index uses the lowest rating to set the index). My CPU rating is now 6.3 and is now capable of both multi-thread operation and running multi-programs at the same time. I have been told this chip will overclock to around 3.4GHz with no ill effects because the chip runs very cool in the first place (mine at 2.7GHz runs at about 28 degrees C [82.4 degrees F] and only pulls 65W TDP which is, compared to equal or lessor CPU's that pull 95W TDP, very low power consumption). Of course the Sempron chip [one core disabled] only pulls 45W TDP. Therefore, for the budget minded home builder, the Sempron 140 is a golden opportunity to get a high end CPU for a low budget price.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Keyboard, Mouse, and Stereo Speakers Review

Logitech Cordless Desktop Keyboard, Mouse, and Stereo Speakers

I got a wireless keyboard, mouse, and wired speaker set for $15! and its also made by logitech..a great brand (imho). It a refub, and the box was in rough shape, but the item works great.I had to change the batteries and the keyboard and in the mouse, but for $15 it was worth it. The speakers don't sound the best, but there ins't any static/crackly noise, so they're good enough.
Everything in this package works great and worked the first time I installed the product. Would recommend to anyone wanting an inexpensive wireless setup.

IOGear Long Range Media Center Desktop Keyboard and Mouse Combo,2.4GHz Wireless GKM551R (Black) Review

IOGear Long Range Media Center Desktop Keyboard and Mouse Combo,2.4GHz Wireless GKM551R
Average Reviews:

Had this combo now for 3 months.Battery life is good (2-3 weeks on rechargables) mouse wheel will flash red when I need to recharge.Keyboard is flat, light weight and has quiet keys.Volume, mute buttons are handy, space bar pauses starts video.I use Ctrl +,- and 0 to increase, decrease, normalize screen size alot.My complaint about this board is the occasional pointer stutter that happens.Occasional being the key word here. This happens with full batts, line of sight with receiver and at around 10 feet.Tolerable as it doesn't happen all the time.Keyboard has only lagged behind my typing once.No complaint there. This has made couch surfing on my 32" panel a lot of fun and wouldn't be without it now.Have given up my laptop armrest surfing for this.Would recommend this (already have) to a friend.Great value.

Logitech Internet 250 Desktop Vista Keyboard and Mouse Review

Logitech Internet 250 Desktop Vista Keyboard and Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was very pleased with this purchase. I wanted a keyboard and mouse that connected via PS/2 (old style plugs) instead of USB. The keyboard is well constructed and attractive without all the "bells & whistles" that I would not use anyway. The mouse also performs well and feels very comfortable in your hand. I have had good luck with quite a few Logitech products. If you want an excellent "no frills" keyboard and mouse which utilize the PS/2, plug type connection to free up your USB ports for other peripherals, I would highly recommend this product. It gets "two thumbs up" from me!

Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110 (967561-0403) Review

Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I also own the logitech laser LX3000 and the LX 700, and I initially liked the EX 110 for its cheap price, light weight, and small foot print (or lap print in my case).I've concluded that despite these benefits, in my opinion, this keyboard is cheaply made, and you get what yo pay for.The keys have a cheap feel to them, and the buttons on top look and feel low quality.I can already hear a very small piece rattling around in the keyboard that must have broken off from somewhere and I've only had this keyboard a few days.I guess it's good if you want something cheap and plan on upgrading in a few months, but you're better off with the LX 300 or better which is heavier and more solidly build. The reason I don't like the more expensive models is because they add buttons and features that most people, including me, don't need or want, but you're also paying more for top quality that feels better. The mouse is also junky; it's not ergonomic (curved for comfort) and the scroll wheel makes a lot of noise.

Logitech Wireless Desktop MK 300 Review

Logitech Wireless Desktop MK 300
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
OUT OF THE BOX

I own a Logitech C-BK16A Dual wireless keyboard and mouse. My first impression of the Logitech MK 300 is that the keys are full size; but the keyboard is thinner, lightweight and shorter in length and width. There are some tabs in the back we can open to prop the keyboard at an angle.

The receiver is small and bent to rest inconspicuously on the desktop tower out of my way.A direct line of sight is not necessary for the keyboard and mouse to work -- huge improvement over the Dual, which means I have a less cluttered desktop.

MK 300 is advertised as spill resistant, but I hesitate to test that claim.

SOFTWARE

Although the keyboard and mouse work right out of the box, I need to install the software to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse and flip the function of the mouse buttons.I couldn't do that from the Vista mouse control screen. The software is also necessary to control the function button assignments and the hotkey assignments.

The Logitech software has a keyboard encryption feature.I never really thought about that before, but now my keyboard is secure from the prying eyes of other computers.

KEYBOARD

The hotkeys give one touch control to the keyboard. At the touch of a button, I can download email or launch my browser or Google something.

While programming the hotkeys and function keys, I notice the calculator.I always need a calculator when working on my computer.I press it and one pops up immediately on the screen.

Also available is the PC power button.Push that and the FN key and the computer goes quickly to sleep.Do it again, and it wakes up.

The keys respond well to typing.Logitech advertises a quieter experience.I can still hear myself typing and banging the space bar, although it is more muffled compared to the Dual.I wouldn't pay that much attention to this normally, except that it was on the box and it made me take notice.

One thing I miss is MK 300 lacks a volume dial, a function available on my Dual keyboard.Volume is instead controlled by the hotkeys.

MOUSE

The mouse is where this package shines. It is lightweight, fits in both my left and right hands comfortably, slides along the desk smoothly. As for responsiveness, I didn't know responsiveness could be any better until I tried this mouse. The mouse glides like it's on butter and the cursor flows right with it.

It is a little difficult for me to highlight material that requires scrolling. The pointer is extremely sensitive and I find myself scrolling and highlighting an entire page.Moving the mouse back the other direction will have me overshoot my starting point.I haven't found a way to make the scrolling while highlighting less sensitive. My workaround is to zoom out, so that I don't need to scroll.

Zooming in and out is made easy on this system.Just press the CTRL key and roll the wheel on the mouse.Whatever page I'm viewing, whether website or document, is instantly enlarged.

Of course, the wheel and buttons on the mouse are also customizable via the Logitech software.

PROS:
+ customizable one touch control of many computer functions
+ advertised to be spill-resistant
+ receiver can be hidden, doesn't require a direct line of sight to the keyboard
+ no wires to get in the way
+ stroke encryption feature
+ mouse glides smoothly and is more responsive than any other mouse I've ever used
+ zooming is quick and easy
+ keys are full size but keyboard is more compact and lightweight
+ graphic intensive manual is easy to follow
+ comes with a 5 year warranty

CONS

- no volume control dial, must use hotkey
- highlighting material that requires scrolling is difficult
- need to install software (compatible with Vista and XP) for full functionality

SUMMARY

Not all keyboards are created equal.I spend a lot of time on my keyboard and I do appreciate many of the subtle improvements: no cords to get in the way, no unsightly receivers, quick access to a calculator, quick and easy zoom, a secured keyboard, smooth mouse control. It's an excellent package, the best wireless keyboard and mouse I've ever owned.
