Worked like a charm. Helped to identify a busted power supply instead of a busted motherboard, without the need of a backup powersupply (which I didn't have). A must have tool.

Digital Power Supply Tester with LCD Display Review

Digital Power Supply Tester with LCD Display
Average Reviews:

So my nice new machine (10 months old) decides to no longer boot. All the fans spin up to normal speed, the DVD burners cycle as normal, the 5v standby light is glowing on the motherboard, and there are no post code beeps of any kind. Step #1 Go to the Intel web site and follow their handy dandy diagnostic steps. All signs point to the motherboard being bad. Step #2 Get on the phone with Intel Support and go through all the diagnostic steps again (I think they have trust issues). Step #3 Intel agrees and gives me an RMA to trade in the motherboard. Step #4 Ten days later, install the new motherboard, exact same results (frustration is knocking on the door but I refuse to answer). Step #5 Call Intel and work through all the diagnostic steps with Intel on the phone (they were very patient this time). We agree that it has to be the CPU. Step #6 Contact Tiger Direct to replace the CPU. Just one little problem, this CPU is no longer offered. The folks at Tiger Direct take about 60 seconds to decide to replace this CPU with a faster CPU that is still compatable with the motherboard (when is the last time you got a free upgrade with free shipping included??). Step #7 Installed the new CPU and got the same results again. Frustration did not need to knock, I was there. Step #8 By process of elimination it has to be the power supply, but I'm not wasting any more time or money without being sure. That is when I ordered this Digital Power Supply Tester. Step #9 Within 2 minutes of receiving this tester I was fully aware of exactly why the machine would no longer boot and everything else was still good. This tester immediately beeped a warning signal and showed that the 12 volt rail in the power supply was only putting out 11.2 volts. The saftey built into the harddrives would not allow the drives to spin up and therefore no boot. As you may have guessed, this power supply tester is now the most important PC tool in the box.

Belkin Anti-Static Wrist Band with Adjustable Grounding Review

Belkin Anti-Static Wrist Band with Adjustable Grounding
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What's to say... it's an anti-static wrist strap!
Basically it is put around your wrist while working inside your computer and cliped to an unpainted metal surface. What that does is ground you so that you wont accidentally zap your computer's motherboard or delicate electronics with a static discharge. If you work inside your PC a lot this is very nice to have, though not 100% necessarry (just touching a metal surface every now and then will work too).
Don't ignore the danger static charge poses to your computer's inards. A spark of static contains several thousand volts of electricity and will easily burn out the circuitry of your expensive envestment of a computer. This is especially true if you live in a dy climate or have carpet, or otherwise are more prone to static build up. Take my word for it, it only has to happen once and your $1000 Computeing behemoth becomes one very expensive and unfashionable paper wieght.
A strap like this is advisable to any who work on thier computers often or who live in static prone areas. This particular one is pretty good (they're all mostly the same). Only real complaint is that I wish the wrist band had been elastic instead of velcro.

StarTech M3013 24x26 Desktop Anti-Static Mat Review

StarTech M3013 24x26 Desktop Anti-Static Mat
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If possible, I would RATE THIS ITEM 2.5 STARS

The "StarTech M3013 24x26 Desktop Anti-Static Mat" by Star Tech arrived as a generic product and as of 16 Mar 2010, unlike what is being displayed and advertised on Amazon (see photo). The mat, out of the Amazon box, was packaged in a crude plastic wrap (see photo) with no specific manufacturer's name or users guide. A paper sticker on the plastic wrap says "Made in Taiwan", but no manufacturer or makers mark is on the product, making this generic electrical mat untraceable.

With traceability of the product not possible, the electrical properties of the mat remain a relative unknown. As an electrical lab product, in it's current form, this item cannot be used as an anti-static/ESD device for or on any program that requires product traceability and documented electrical properties such as in an ISO, MIL, FED, ASTM, ASE, ESD or level4/class 100K Cleanroom and or higher lab space.

Using a Fluke 187 DVM, the mat measures infinite ohms and non conductive. The supplied coiled 1M ohm snap on alligator clip measured 0.9998M ohm (see photo). This snap on 1M ohm conductor is intended to be attached to a person and not between the mat and the hardware. The mat should be connected to earth ground or placed on a grounded surface. Given the supplied hardware, mat and coiled 1M ohm clip, the end user will be inclined to configure this product incorrectly.

With the supplied coiled 1M ohm conductor snapped to the mat and alligator clip attached to the hardware placed on the mat, the mat may not be at zero potential and earth ground, but at best, sitting on a floating ground or worse, at a high potential.

To properly configure, this product should include a snap on lead for attaching the mat to an earth ground or grounded ESD bench. The 1M ohm coiled conductor with attached alligator clip should then be attached between the hardware on the mat and to a wrist strap on the person working on the hardware. At minimum, and to help mitigate confusion, the coiled 1M ohm alligator clip and conductor should be replaced with a simple snap on ground lead.

The best solution would be to supply a ground lead for the mat, and a wrist strap for the coiled 1M ohm conductor with the attached alligator clip. For an example of a complete solution, see the "Anti-Static Hardware Kit by ESD SYSTEMS" listed on Amazon.

Given that this product, as supplied, does not satisfy the intended electrical purpose, the generic nature of the product, the lack of specifications and traceability to the nature of the rudimentary packaging and lack of documentation, consider this product at $22.23, $44.16 retail to be over priced and overvalued.

Minus 1.00 for supplying an ineffective hardware solution set.
Minus 0.50 for providing a generic product different from what is advertised.
Minus 0.50 for no traceability of the generic mat's origin and electrical properties.
Minus 0.25 for no manufactures I.D. or mark on an electrical product.
Minus 0.25 for not supplying a user guide.
