I bought this card because of its memory size (128) to play games. It was affordable for me, and I needed a low profile for my slim desktop. It is decent. For a value grade consumer video card it works just fine. Not top of the line of course. Those are like 500 dollars.

This is ok for semi-graphic intensive games to just speed up a bit.You probably won't max out your graphics settings with this card, but it really beats integrated graphics by a lot.

I bought it for the sole purpose of playing Age of Empires III.My 64MB integrated graphics couldn't handle the game with the graphics settings all the way down. This card can go up to Medium (LOW MED HIGH VHIGH) but will get slightly choppy. At Low, the game runs incredibly smooth and even gives more detail than when I used my 64 card.It also cooled my computer's processor 2 C, since it has its own onboard the card.

Recommened for value users for low graphics games and a decent video card upgrade. If you're still using integrated graphics, this is a great upgrade.

PNY GeForce 8400 GS 512 MB PCI Video Graphics Card VCG84512SPPB Review

Considering that this is the same item as the one I purchased from Staples, product code VCG84512SPPB, then this is an awesome card. It is a PCI card and my understanding is that this is one of the older interfaces on motherboards. PCI-e(PCI-Express) is not the same as plain ol' PCI. I installed this graphics card on Windows XP Service Pack 1. With all of the drivers I could get through microsoft update and off the CD, I still could not change the color to 32-bit. It would only allow me to have 4 bit. And at this setting, no computer games could run. After trying to reinstall this card many different ways with consulting PNY I finally discovered it on my own. I went directly to the Nvidia website and downloaded a 70MB driver update for this card in particular and ran it. Finally I got to choose the settings for the display and the desktop features it provides are awesome. It has a separate control panel to make your desktop windows move more fluidly. You could even "throw" windows into different corners. TO install this properly I had to set the BIOS' Primary Video Adapter to "auto." Depending on the type of computer, it may be a little different wording. The box comes with a note to do this. To get into BIOS, when the computer starts up you have to tap F2 when prompted. It may be different depending on the computer. I guess BIOS is also known as CMOS. Before installing the hardware in the computer, disable the integrated graphics adapter if there is one. This can be done by right clicking on my computer, click manage, then device manager, highlight display adapters, click the + to expand and disable it. If you are going to use two monitors, you can plug another monitor into the original VGA port because of course you want to plug your primary monitor into the graphics card to allow it to work with your games. Then re-enable the old graphics adapter to allow another monitor to work off that one. This week or so ordeal I had with getting my card to work properly was not fun and driver problems are not an uncommon I hear, but I came away successful.

PNY XLR8 GTS 250 1024 MB PCI-Express 2.0 VGA + DVI Graphics Card VCGGTS2501XPB Review

The GTS250 1GB card isn't the "latest and greatest" that Nvidia has on the market these days, but for the price, it was a great upgrade choice from my 512MB EVGA Nvidia 8600gts card. The card is very big and requires at LEAST a 450W power supply, so be aware that if you get this card, you may have to upgrade your PS as well. I went with a 550W power supply, and it is working well. You should also know that it is a double-wide card, so if you have other add-on cards in your PC, you may need to do some additional card moves to make this fit in your case.

As for the performance, honestly, I am very happy with the card. I do some gaming every now and then, and things like Left4Dead2, Modern Warfare 2, and recently even DragonAge:Origins run very well on my machine, thanks to this card. The processor is a AMD x2 5600+ with 3GB of Ram, and this card is a great addition to make these games run well on my machine. I have been able to max out the settings on L4D2 and MW2, and *almost* max out Dragonage:Origins. When I try to do highest settings in DA:O I get some choppy frame rates, but at "high" it runs just fine. I think that if I was to upgrade my CPU and Memory, this would fix those issues.

One other thing that I noticed about this card after first installing it was that it ran not hot, but very warm. This could have been due to the mid-sized case I have, but I also needed to add another fan to the case in order to draw more cool air through after installing this card. I think this is normal for any modern card these days though... more cooling is always better.

All in all, I think that this is a very good card, and I would recommend it to others looking for an easy way to achieve better graphics for not a lot of money.

A great card in a low-profile design!!!!! Choices are small when you have a slim case ( HP S3320F ).The card requires min 270 Watt power supply, which requires modification and a larger power supply. The card is silent and also doesn't put off much heat.Works very well.I used the card to hook up my two HP w2207.One with DVI to DVI and the other is DVI to HDMI.Ran benchmark with the on board video and then again with this card and blows the scores out of the water. The PSu I ran with the Card is a SPI270LE by Sparkle and it runs great.
