ASUS Radeon EAH4350 512MB DDR2 PCI-Express Silent Graphics Card Review

Pros:
Low cost, silent, has HDMI output.

Cons:
Headache to update the driver from the version on the CD to the latest version from website.I suggest that you do not install the driver from the CD and directly use the latest driver from ATI's website. When upgrading the driver, there can be many install issues (install doesn't run, you need to update .net distributions, etc).

Other thoughts:
I was having issues with popping sounds coming out of the HDMI audio.i was able to fix this problem by following the instructions on this website:

ATI Technologies 100-435703 Radeon X1800 XL 256MB GDDR3 SDRAM PCI Express x16 Graphics Card Review

I purchased this card over a month ago and have been extremely pleased w/ its performance. It's the best card you can buy that is still a single slot high card. The installation was easy, but I did have a driver issue.Perhaps my software CD was faulty, but all I needed to do was go online and download the driver from the internet.

I can play Half-Life 2 on all of the highest settings w/ very few spots in the game where it will lag.The card does get warm but never hot, even after 12 hours of gaming.I have a large form factor PC so this may have a lot to do w/ it.Also, I have a dual cooling fan card that I have installed to cool the card.If you pay the price for this card, I highly suggest you buy a dual cooling fan card to keep it nice and cool...especially if you don't have a large form factor PC.

Make sure you have a good power supply for this card.My PC came w/ a 310W one and I purchased and installed a 550w power supply unit.I have a few drives and extra components that require the power to keep them running at their highest capacity due to the demands of the graphics card. You will notice an improvement in your DVD drive and your CD-RW drive speed, if you have a better power supply.

Ultimately, if you have the money to get this card I would highy recommend it.It's fast, reliable, stays cool, and will give you a great gaming experience even on the most demanding games.

...I'm adding this information a month after my original review.I wanted to overclock this card from the standard 500 Mhz core clock speed, and I used ATI's software for it.When I set it to 575 Mhz (maximum) the card would freeze up and shut down the graphics program or lock the computer completely.I found the fastest I could overclock this card was about 530 Mhz w/out it freezing/hanging.This is not b/c of a poor computer system b/c I have a top of the line rig.

So, that's 30 Mhz faster than the core clock speed but not the maximum 575 overclock it's supposed to be capable of.I just thought this information would be helpful to someone. My orginal review remains valid. This is just additional information.

I was coming from a 9800 GX2, a very fast card.
I got rid of the card to a friend and decided to get this supposedly "budget" card..

Tested on an AMD Phenom2 955 CPU with 4gb ddr2 in 3d mark both of these in crossfire mode beat out my 9800 GX2
i was able to hit 18792 in 3dmark

this card Overclocks like a dream!!! temp never went above 48C for me
got the core to 840 from the stock 700 and the mem to 1255 from the stock setting as well.
working perfectly, no hiccups, no problems! and LOW temps!!! the card runs quiet, i dont notice it.the eyefinity multiple display ability, Dx11 support small form of the card itself..great features.
this card will fit in any tower case i ever seen, its much shorter than the 5750 and even the 5850

this card is able to run all the modern games at excellent framerates. The beauty part is, that 2 of these (non OCed) in crossfire mode easily outperforms the 5850, and if you overclock them? Even better!

if your on a budget and want a extreme gaming rig with a 260 dollar video card investment, then buy 2 of these, and youll be ready to go,...for a while.
(i got mine for 130 a piece)
if you have time and dont mind waiting .wait for a single card that does roughly the same thing, like a 5850i was skeptical at first when buying the one card...i thought.."you get what you pay for" well ...somehow XFX and ATI broke the rules here...and delivered incredible power and gaming bliss at low a low price!

UPDATE:
The graphic quality seems to be better than my 9800 GX2, the textures have a warmer feel and look.

This card is great also at multitasking between different jobs. I have run 1080p movies to my HD TV and at the SAME TIME ran games like Left 4 dead 2 at MAX settings while having an mmorpg like Runes of magic (also max settigns) also running minimized on my computer ...NOSIGNIFICANT DROPS in framerates, no unplayable slowdown or choppiness whatsoever...
2 games, at the same time, i ping pong between the two of them while playing an HD movie on the TV

yeah im pretty happy with this card.

UPDATE 5-5-10

just one of these cards RIPS through games like Buishock2 and Mass effect 2 on MAX SETTINGS. framerate never drops in framerate i cant verify if its slightly under 60fps or higher, but its so smooth to play, its a beauty to behold.
as i test more newer games ill add them

XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850 1 GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card HD585XZAFC Review

This is a non-reference version of HD 5850. The reference version (HD585AZNFC) has the fan at the end. This one has fan in the middle. The Core voltage control is disabled in this version. I purchased this card from JR through amazon.com and at that time model no. was not mentioned in the title and they were displaying the reference version image for this card. Make sure to check the model no. (HD585XZAFC is non-ref version, HD585AZNFC is ref version) before deciding and not just the image displayed. The ref version usually comes with Dirt2 coupon but this one does not.

Performance of this card is excellent. Played NFS Shift at 1920*1080 with max settings and average FPS were 55 (After applying patch 1.02). Dirt2 averages 70 FPS, GRID averages 78, Tombraider Underworld averages 70 at max settings and 1920*1080 resolution.

Great value for money. This is the best card for price around 300(as mentioned in "Best Graphics Cards For The Money: May 2010" review at [...]. This card is a little over 10" in length (XFX states it at 9.5") so make sure you have enough space. Two 6 pin power connectors are required from power supply. It comes with double lifetime warranty which gives peace of mind. Make sure to register in 30 days from purchase otherwise the warranty will be reduced to just 1 year.

At base voltage and clock this card is at par with its ref version. Performance might suffer at very high clocks since extreme clocks can't be achieved without voltage control. The ref version is a bit expensive also. Overall I am happy with this purchase since I am not into overclocking. This card has enough power to play available games at max settings so overclocking is not needed.

Sapphire Radeon HD4550 512 MB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card 100252HDMI Review

Sapphire Radeon HD4550 512 MB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card 100252HDMI
Average Reviews:

Product:
Sapphire Radeon HD 4550 512MB Low-Profile Video Card

Computer the part was used in:
Dell Inspiron 531s
AMD Athlon X2 5000+
3GB DDR2 SDRAM
250 Watt PSU
w/Vista Home Premium

Objective:
I wanted to find a suitable video card for my slim-line Inspiron 531s.
LOW PROFILE: Full-size graphics cards are too large for slim cases, which meant the card had to be low-profile.The Sapphire Radeon HD 4550 can be easily converted to low-profile by moving the VGA port from beside the DVI port to below the DVI port. The card comes equipped with everything you need to do this.
POWER SUPPLY: I was also limited by the 250 Watt power supply (most cards require 350w or higher). The 4550 lists a requirement of 300 Watts but even with my PC running full-tilt the total draw should rarely exceed 200 Watts.
PRICE: At ~$50 this card is a great deal for what you pay.

Packaging/accessories:
The card came packaged in an attractive box with plenty of padding for safe shipping.Contents included the video card, two separate metal docks for low-profile cases, and a sheet of basic directions. The directions did not include instructions for converting the full size card to low-profile, but the conversion is relatively simple and easy to do yourself.Still, more thorough directions would have been appreciated.

Performance:
MEDIA: The card performs admirably for all Media Center / Home Theater purposes.Video and photo editing is fast and smooth and the card has no trouble displaying anything at my native resolution of 1440x900.It's also very quiet thanks to passive cooling (no noisy fan), meaning you won't hear yourPC humming along during a movie. The HDMI port is also handy for transmitting HD content and 7.1 channel audio. This is an ideal card for a media center / home theater PC.

GAMING: This card is not the best choice for gamers. As a casual gamer I was satisfied with the cards performance during older games like Half-Life 2, Dawn of War, and Portal, which all ran smoothly with maxed out settings. However later games are more difficult for this card; even Company of Heroes had to be turned down to medium-high settings before the frame rate smoothed out.In order to play games like Crysis or GTA4 the settings will have to be turned down quite low or the framerate will suffer.Once again, this is not a card for serious gamers.

Support:
So far there have been no problems so I haven't sought any technical support. The catalyst drivers are excellent and up to date.

Overall:
Pros: Price is great for anyone on a budget, the low-profile feature is great for anyone with a slim case, modest power consumption, HDMI/DVI/VGA slots are perfect for multimedia
Cons: Sub-par for playing the latest games, conversion to low-profile is not documented in the directions and is somewhat of a tight fit

Conclusion:
The best low-profile video card for the price, and great for any home theater PC.
4/5 Stars
