Targus Cord-Storing Optical Mouse AMU76US (Black with Gray) Review

Targus Cord-Storing Optical Mouse AMU76US

This is a nice, little device that I bought from CompUSA. There are three things that I like about this unit:

1. The device is comfortable to use. It is neither too short nor too long for the hand. It fits my hand just right.

2. It has a retractable cord, and the USB connector can be stored underneath the unit (making for no loose, dangling wires). This is a convienent feature when I store it away between uses.

3. It doesn't need a battery, as it is a USB powered device. That means I never have to worry about it running out of power just when I need it the most.

I'm very satisfied with this product, and I would recomment it for the above reasons.

Logitech Rx1000 Scroll Tilt Laser Mouse Review

Logitech Rx1000 Scroll Tilt Laser Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Logitech Rx1000 about 9 months ago as a gaming and working mouse, and I've got to say, it's performed perfectly thus far.

For gaming, it's wired and it's USB, both pluses for the required instant response time. It has a very high DPI for perfect accuracy and it moves easily without being too light.

For productivity and windows usage, the clicking has a perfect feel, the buttons are in finger-predictable spots, the scroll wheel almost never gets stuck in that in-between spot where just tapping it will force a web page to scroll up & down (If it does get stuck, hold the wheel down hard and scroll up and down a few times, it will fix itself). Sideways scrolling via the scroll wheel is easy, and the scroll-wheel-click is firm but not difficult.

This is the first non-trackball mouse I've owned that doesn't omit that terrible eye-blinding laser you have to watch your kids around. I didn't know that when I purchased it, but now I think I'll never go back. It works so well! It tracks really well on nearly every surface, so I've completely ditched the mouse pad, which I've wanted to do for years. This mouse never "floats" like every one of the older laser mice I've used -- you know, where you put the mouse down on one spot in your desk, and it just mysteriously walks around by itself. That problem is solved here, as well as cleanliness problems had by many other mice, where they have a ridge around the sides that somehow collect any and every piece of dirt from your hands and saves it so that you can never truly clean it. This mouse is almost completely seamless on all sides. On the cleanliness note, I do scrape the mouse-crud from the gliders on the bottom every few months, but they're flat and the gunk scrapes off easily.

One, very small possible downside, is it feels a little different than some mice - it's a different shape - narrower. I have a medium-sized hand, and it feels fine, but I could see someone with much larger hands having trouble. Actually, I think it helps save me from repetitive stress, forcing me to handle it a little differently than my hand is used to, so I would call it a plus for me.

Also - I would NOT recommend installing the Logitech software. The drivers are useless if you have XP, Vista or better (and works fine in Linux), and not installing the drivers disables the completely useless "search button". The button itself is low-profile, but accidentally hitting it a few times will give you a new lesson in anger management.

Overall, I've loved owning the Rx1000 Logitech mouse, and would recommend to everyone I know.

Verbatim 96676 Desktop Laser Mouse Review

Verbatim 96676 Desktop Laser Mouse
Average Reviews:

This mouse has lots of features for power users. The total of five buttons are very useful, especially for gaming or applications with lots of keyboard shortcuts.

It worked out of the box on my Ubuntu Linux 9.04 "Jaunty Jackalope" system, and the only configuration I did was making the mouse buttons do different things for different applications.

The sideways-scrolling, performed by tilting the mouse wheel left or right, isn't particularly smooth, so I prefer to reprogram the mouse buttons to do something else.

Otherwise, it is a very good mouse, and I would recommend it to anybody that desires more than the traditional three-button+scrollwheel mouse.

Logitech Corded Mouse (M500) Review

Logitech Corded Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If a corded mouse is what you want, this is probably the best you'll get.

Like many Logitech mice, the M500 is ergnomically shaped for comfort and reduced strain/tension.Logitech mice are the most comfortable I have used. You can mouse around for hours with much less strain than when using mice from other manufacturers.

Like Logitech's more recent models, the M500 has a scroll wheel that you can switch between regular scrolling and "hyper scrolling," where you give the wheel a little flick and it scrolls very quickly through huge amounts of data.Once you try this feature, you won't go back to a mouse that doesn't have it.

You can also push the scroll wheel to the left or right for horizontal scrolling.

The M500 also has forward and back buttons within easy reach of the thumb, useful for quickly jumping through website or powerpoint slides.

It is a laser mouse, which is much more precise than the older optical mice.It tracks well on most surfaces I've tried, though of course not on glass (Logitech makes more expensive mice that track well on glass).

There are only two things I'd caution you about before purchasing.First, this mouse is really designed to be used by the right hand only. It's possible to use it with the left hand, but it's not as comfortable, and using the forward/back buttons isn't nearly as practical or easy with the left hand as with the right.

Second, this is a corded mouse. You might prefer cordless. For me, corded mice have advantages:no battery to wear out, no charging cradles, no usb receiver to lose, and I've found that corded mice track better than many cordless mice (though the very newest cordless mice, like Logitech's "Anywhere MX" and "Performance MX" track very, very well).

In summary, if you want a right-handed corded mouse, please give this a try.I've tried many, and this is the only one I'd rate as excellent. It's very very comfortable, it tracks very well, and the hyper-scrolling and other features are very well-thought out and implemented. And it's much cheaper than cordless mice offering the same feature set.

Kensington K72356US Mouse-in-a-Box USB Desktop Mouse, Black Review

Kensington K72356US Mouse-in-a-Box USB Desktop Mouse, Black
Average Reviews:

This isn't the slickest or most ergonomic mouse out there, but it works reliably and didn't cost too much. It has a nice long usb cord. It has a very neutral, generic shape, which is better than the tried-but-missed-the-mark "ergonomic" mice out there.
