(More customer reviews)When we got my wife a new Mac a few years ago, we had to get an adapter to use her old ADB keyboard.(It's a $200 ergonomic keyboard, so an adapter was cheaper than a new one--and the anti-ergonomic keyboard Apple shipped with the Mac was not an option.) The one we got worked, most of the time, but it was a lot of hassle.We had to reinstall the drivers at least once; and it had a persistent problem that it kept hanging, or something, so that we had to unplug it and plug it back in again to reset it.
Then she moved to OS X, and the old adapter didn't work any more; no drivers for it.So, again, it was cheaper to get a new adapter than to get a new keyboard.This one turned out to be great: no flakiness, and it didn't need drivers; OS X just recognized it and it worked.It Just Works.

Brother PT9500PC P-touch Desktop Label Maker Review

(More customer reviews)I've had numerous P-Touch models over the years, and I think the output they produce is superb. The software for the Mac, on the other hand, has lagged far behind its Windows counterpart. Older versions of the software, in particular, had problems with anything except TrueType fonts.

Now I see that Brother finally released version 5 of the software for OS X. I downloaded it and was pleasantly surprised to see that it had an entirely different, more Mac-like interface, and it handled all of my fonts just fine. I was quite pleased until I tried to use some of my OTHER programs.

It seems that if you uninstall the older version of the software before installing this one--something Brother tells you to do in the instructions--IT WILL WIPE OUT FILES USED BY OTHER PROGRAMS! So far the uninstaller has trashed Office 2008, Acrobat Pro, Adobe Reader, iWork '08, Adobe Creative Suite CS3 and OmniOutliner. It's hard to tell what others might be affected as well. I ended up having to do a clean reinstall of my system, which was NOT a small task.

So, buy the printer if you like, but BEWARE the uninstaller!

Logitech Corded Mouse (M500) Review

(More customer reviews)If a corded mouse is what you want, this is probably the best you'll get.

Like many Logitech mice, the M500 is ergnomically shaped for comfort and reduced strain/tension.Logitech mice are the most comfortable I have used.You can mouse around for hours with much less strain than when using mice from other manufacturers.

Like Logitech's more recent models, the M500 has a scroll wheel that you can switch between regular scrolling and "hyper scrolling," where you give the wheel a little flick and it scrolls very quickly through huge amounts of data.Once you try this feature, you won't go back to a mouse that doesn't have it.

You can also push the scroll wheel to the left or right for horizontal scrolling.

The M500 also has forward and back buttons within easy reach of the thumb, useful for quickly jumping through website or powerpoint slides.

It is a laser mouse, which is much more precise than the older optical mice.It tracks well on most surfaces I've tried, though of course not on glass (Logitech makes more expensive mice that track well on glass).

There are only two things I'd caution you about before purchasing.First, this mouse is really designed to be used by the right hand only.It's possible to use it with the left hand, but it's not as comfortable, and using the forward/back buttons isn't nearly as practical or easy with the left hand as with the right.

Second, this is a corded mouse.You might prefer cordless.For me, corded mice have advantages:no battery to wear out, no charging cradles, no usb receiver to lose, and I've found that corded mice track better than many cordless mice (though the very newest cordless mice, like Logitech's "Anywhere MX" and "Performance MX" track very, very well).

In summary, if you want a right-handed corded mouse, please give this a try.I've tried many, and this is the only one I'd rate as excellent.It's very very comfortable, it tracks very well, and the hyper-scrolling and other features are very well-thought out and implemented.And it's much cheaper than cordless mice offering the same feature set.
