(More customer reviews)I bought the Lexar 8 GB UDMA card to use in a Canon 5D Mark II, which writes very large (20MB) files when you shoot in RAW mode (which I do).The place where I see an advantage is in downloading these large files to my computer.

Mated to a UDMA card reader, the card transfers about 72 files a minute or a bit better than one per second. My old SanDisk Extreme III card in a non-UDMA-enabled reader takes about 3-4 times longer. And of course if you have a camera that writes large files, 8GB gives you some headroom when you're out taking large number of photos -- it can take about 240 RAW images on my camera.

There's also an advantage to a high speed card like this if you shoot continuously with this type of camera, since files will be written more quickly with a fast card.If you have a UDMA-enabled camera and shoot often in continuous mode, this may be a worthwhile purchase for you.If you have a need for lots of capacity with any camera and you have or buy a UDMA-enabled card reader, this card will speed up file transfer very significantly.In my experience Lexar makes very reliable cards that do not have compatibility issues with major brands of digital SLRs.

The GOODS

- nice grey aluminum casing means it is durable
- LED flashes when copying or transferring files from device
- 2.0 fast standard speed
- lanyard groove on the flash drive & not on the cap!
- silver imprint text design gives a nice look to it

The BADS

- the plastic protruding inside the cap will wear out overtime, inevitably causing the cap to become less secure, making it prone for dust to enter the USB's teeth.And of course, your more likely to lose the cap eventually.

()()()()()(Update: I used this for about 1 week and today I'm experiencing an error.The computer is asking me to reformat this USB flash drive.The same message pops up when I plug the flash drive an another computer.I will return this product.

I bought mine for $19.95 at Fry's Electronic at a regular price so don't pay anything more than that!

My camera has a 10MP sensor and with this card I can take 1624 pictures at full resolution.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my wife and grandson 5 months ago, I waited to actually give it a fair test period.It has not not given either of them an ounce of problem.It is very reliable and data transfer speed is quick.My wife had a PNY, and it was OK, but it does not compare to the Kingston.

The only drawback is the hole in the end, it is very tiny.I had to purchase a very thin key ring to put on it so they could attach a strap to it.

(More customer reviews)These are great.Simple, quick, cheap, reliable, fast, and to the point.I had a couple 2GB HP flash drives that I just replaced with 8GB HP flash drives now that the cost has come down quite a bit.I like them because they are streamlined to be easily carried around on your keychain.If you always have your keychain in your pocket, like most people, then you will always have storage space on hand.I have two on my keychain.One is for PortableApps (google: PortableApps), which is a very cool way of being able to run your own applications (Firefox, OpenOffice, Media Players, IM's, etc) on other people's computers without having to install anything on their computer.It is completely "take everything with you".The other one is to boot into a live Linux that runs off the USB drive without touching a HDD.Especially useful when you need to use various utilities to fix someone's computer: such as HDD partitioners, boot loader managers, ability to mount an NTFS drive and replace a corrupted file that is preventing their Windows from loading, text editing, etc, etc.

Like others have mentioned, the cap does not fit on the drive very tight so it will only be a matter of time before it gets lost. Others have commented about using string (glue or drill a hole) to keep the cap from getting lost.I didn't even bother.I just took the caps off and threw them into a drawer somewhere.I just carry the drives on my keychain without the caps.They won't get damaged.

These USB flash drives also have a built-in LED that illuminates during data transfer, so you can be sure that there is no data being transferred before disconnecting them.This will prevent possible file corruption.

It would be nice if HP made these drives in different colors other than black, so you could color code them for your various uses.

These, obviously, aren't secure (encrypted) USB flash drives, so if you are looking for something that you plan on using with sensitive information (and the possibility of it getting into the wrong hands), look elsewhere.
