(More customer reviews)After trying unsuccessfully to upgrade my Dell Dimension 3000 by simply adding another memory stick of the same specs in the second slot, I sent the first memory stick (which worked OK by itself, but not in parallel with the Dell factory stick) back to Amazon for a full refund.I then ordered this matched pair 1 GB (2x512 MB) upgrade for a Dell Dimension 3000 from Crucial Technologies (thru Amazon).It arrived in about a week.Very high quality memory, made in the USA.I removed the factory 256 MB memory stick and replaced it with the Crucial memory pair.The computer booted up just fine and works great.The expanded memory really speeded up my machine by a significant amount.

That's why Crucial thoroughly tests EVERY module they sell and put their name only on the ones that meet their strict standards. You might expect memory this good to cost a lot more, but you'd be wrong. As an online memory upgrade provider selling directly from the manufacturer, Crucial memory is often available at lower prices than lower-quality modules.

(More customer reviews)Just received this and tested it.It fits flush with the side of my laptop, so I plan to just leave it in all the time.When you have a CF card plugged in, it sticks out about 3/4 of an inch- makes it easy to pull out, but you probably wouldn't want to leave the CF card in all the time.Vista's built-in drivers load within seconds of plugging it in, and add a new removable disk drive to the system even if there's no CF card in.Transfers to and from my Extreme III CF card average around 15MB/s, a big improvement to the old PCMCIA adapter I was using.There's even a little plastic cover that protects the CF pins (you can see it in the picture), and slides back into the body when you push a CF card in.I've never had bent pins in a CF drive, but its a nice thought nonetheless.My only complaint is that it's a little tricky to get the CF card aligned properly when you're pushing it in, especially when this is already in your computer and you're trying to plug in the card by touch.It's not perfect, but it does the job I bought it for.

(More customer reviews)A RAM review?Ode to a memory module on a Thursday afternoon? What kind ofuseful verbiage can I offer about a RAM stick?

Obviously, not much, and I shouldn't try-- suffice to say I was happy with this Kingston product, as I have been with previous Kingston purchases.

Amazon frowns on discussing cost in a review,which is quite understandable as prices flucuate, and especially so with RAM modules. I'll just say it was a substantial savings for me to order this stick here rather than through the only 2 retailers in town that had it.

So I picked a ram size larger than any video game required which was 512. This turned out to be the most resonably priced and its by a good company. I could not be happyer with this! It is like I bought a whole new computer! Everything moves faster and I can run alot of programs at the same time. GREAT BUY!
