(More customer reviews)This 640 GB is better for me than the larger 1TB model but wish WD would come out with a smaller 500 GB model or even smaller.I don't know anybody who can use even a 500 GB model as their main primary drive!!There's a lot of wasted space that will never be used.These larger drives are great for alternate drives in your system but no current motherboards I'm aware of support more than two channels (2 SATA drives) for the faster 6 Gb/s models and so these drives are overkill used anywhere else on current motherboards or on RAID.Their potential speed would never be realized at the controller bottleneck.
WD has no plans for anything smaller so if you want a good Black drive this is the one with more bang for your buck.Just be sure your motherboard supports the newer faster drives.
