(More customer reviews)I bought this drive (through reseller Oyen Digital on Amazon) in order to upgrade the harddrive inside my PS3.Even though it was physically the right size, no one had tested it yet that I could find.I decided to take a chance and test it out.
I am happy to report that there are no problems using this drive to replace the internal PS3 drive.The upgrade was painless and several tutorials exist online to show you how.
After I switched out the drives and turned the PS3 back on, it ask me to format the new drive before I continued.This took about 30 seconds.After the format I went to the system information tab and checked the free space.
After the format the system was reporting 413GB / 465GB Free Space.SWEET!
UPDATE:This drive died in March 2009, so I got about 7 months of use out of it.Looking back, movie files were getting corrupted quite often throughout it's lifespan.Eventually it dies completely and when I would boot the PS3, only the wallpaper would show.I put the old 60GB drive back in and everything worked well again.
