As Apple says, the maximun amount of memory is 640Mb (128 built-in + 512 in the single memory slot) but the true is: the powerbook can be upgraded to 1.12 Gb RAM (128 built-in + this ACP-EP 1Gb memory).
It's working like a charm.

(More customer reviews)I have been using this memory for a couple of months now - no problems - in case there is still any debate about 2GB RAM being supported in emac, the answer is yes (at least it is in this 1.42 superdrive model), 2GB RAM is recognized in the system profiler - received order in 3 business days - i purchased this RAM on July 12th, 2007 for $128.63 which i thought was a bargain - today, Sept. 19th, 2007, the price is $115.19 - if you don't have to have it right away, you might want to wait and see how much it goes down - i purchased mine directly from this page from Crucial Tech. - they are a well respected company that is known for standing behind it's products.

(More customer reviews)I bought a Toshiba Satellite A65 notebook that comes with 256MB RAM. For most computer users, it's pretty slow. So I went price hunting for the cheapest memory with a trusted brand and lifetime warranty. I found this PNY which is equivalent to the Kingston KTT3311/256. I got it for a great price with mail-in rebate. I followed the instruction from my notebook manual and inserted this PNY into the memory slot. I turned on my notebook and the processor immediately recognized the total 512MB. I'm very satisfied with this product and I had not problem. I can tell how much my notebook speeds up when it starts up and applications run faster. The other reviewer shouldn't have put her review here as she bought a different product and this memory comes with a lifetime warranty. If you find a good price, I definitely recommend this.

(More customer reviews)My Dell Inspiron 8600 running Windows XP with 512 MB RAM worked well up until a year or so ago.The amount of memory needed to run the system gradually creeped beyond 512MB and the system spent much time paging and thrashing, with very slow response for even trivial actions.I finally bought a single 1 GB sodimm to replace one of the 256 MB modules.Now it has ~1.25 GB of RAM and doesn't need to page any more, and is very responsive.

Easy to install if you've done this kind of thing before.The included instructions are minimal, but no doubt you can google to find detailed directions on replacing memory, or consult the PC manufacturer's doc.

Well worth the cost and trouble.

(More customer reviews)I ordered two memory sticks from another place that promise they would work the first time and everytime.Well they never worked, they probably sent the wrong parts and they never energized at all, much less re-boot the computer.

The Kingston purchase from Amazon was much cheaper and worked flawlessly with easily understandable installation and boot up with no problem.I believe I'll stay with Amazon from now on for computer upgrades, it's a good thing.

(More customer reviews)Been running this for two years, paired with an AthlonXP 2000+ and a Biostar M7VIT-Pro for the mobo.Can't comment on overclock potential, as my mobo/proc combo already eliminates the idea, but it's very stable and plenty quick for most uses.Obviously get two sticks if you plan on doing any video editing or more than moderate gaming, but 1 stick will be more than enough for office/internet usage.
