(More customer reviews)I bought this memory to use with my EPOX 8KD3I motherboard with an AMD 64 3400 processor.

I previously could not get my bios to run at 200 mhz with 2 double sided modules from Geil (which is actually 400mhz).I even updated the bios, went through the motherboard manual which stated that the other module needed to be single sided when using two memory modules.So I returned one the Geil modules and purchased this productIt still would only register at 166mhz regardless of what order the modules were installed in.Then I bought a Kingston Value Ram double sided 512 MB KVR400/512R 184-pin DIMM DDR400 DDR PC3200 and used it with this product.Bam! It ran at 200 mhz.

(More customer reviews)Confirmed by manufacturer's website as being the correct chip with a plus: a great installation guide on the website. I was surprised that all the chips were on one side; the other side is flat circuity. The card is thinner than the original so you need to be careful when pressing firmly down into slot. Immediate success when I turned computer back on; doubling the memory made a notable difference in speed for this older machine.

Great packing as "two" since this Dell needed a pair of the same type. Very reasonable price by Amazon.com for Prime Shipping customer!

(More customer reviews)I just installed this memory in a Dell Inspiron 531. I know it's helpful to know if it goes into the exact computer you have.

It did give it a noticeable boost in speed. I have the AMD athlon 64 X2 dual core processor with dual channel memory. The memory must be installed in pairs, and this Kingston item IS a pair ( 2 modules, each 1 Gig = 2 gig total.) My computer came with 1 Gig ( 2 modules of 512MB each,)so I went from 1 Gig to 3. Don't trust the Dell Support Center software. After I installed the memory, the Dell software showed I had only 2 Gig total, but the Windows SYSTEM control panel showed 3007MB ( 3 Gig. )

Be careful, a lot of the search results you get end up being the wrong memory. Every time I thought I had the right memory it was either SODIMM memory, which isn't the right kind for the 531, or it was only a single module, not 2. This is also the correct voltage (1.8) and speed ( PC2-5300 which is the same as 667 Mhz )I wasn't concerned with overclocking, just compatability. Some of the more expensive gaming memory is rated 800Mhz but they are 2.0 or 2.1 V and might have to be manually adjusted to work, which sounded like a pain, plus I think that'w why the Amazon reviews were not as good.

The cover of the computer was easy to remove ( just 2 screws.) Be sure to have an anti-static wrist band on and clap it to unpainted metal. then you just have to push the little plastic locking handles outward on the memory sockets and install the modules. They sit easliy in the slots, but you have to push down pretty firmly to get the locking handles to pop back up. Two of the locks locked by theselves as I pushed down. I had to help the other two.

The Kingston purchase from Amazon was much cheaper and worked flawlessly with easily understandable installation and boot up with no problem.I believe I'll stay with Amazon from now on for computer upgrades, it's a good thing.

(More customer reviews)I am currently running with a 3x2GB (6GB total) setup of Mushkin Enhanced Redline Frostbyte RAM.After my experience so far with this RAM I will for sure be purchasing another 3x2GB for my system!

Pros:Low profile heatsinks.They barely stick up above the sticks and actually work quite well in keeping the ram cool.I have a Cooler Master V10 installed in my system, and there is more than enough clearance for the RAM to the point you do not have to take out the mobo and remove the V10 to install or remove sticks!This is a great plus!Great construction, the heatsinks do not feel like they are about to fall off.Great performance once you OC to stock speeds in bios.Cas latency of 6 is super fast, especially for the $199.99 price tag.Other manufacturers that have RAM with a Cas latency of 6 are closer to $250-300 for 3x2GB so you are getting a great deal for amazing performance.RAM runs very cool, especially with the V10 setup but also runs great without any active cooling.

Cons: As with many DDR3 1600 RAM sticks you need to fiddle with the bios settings to get them to stock speeds since they will be tied to the CPU multiplier and run at less than the advertised speed.This can be daunting if you don't know what you're doing but there are many guides out there to overclocking RAM.Just be careful because if you intend on OCing your CPU you can overvolt the RAM and screw up your entire system.That wouldn't be fun!

Overall amazing RAM with amazing stock speeds for a budget price.Outperforms Corsair/Crucial/Kingston at the same price level, by far.Highly recommended for gamers on a budget but still want high end performance.Just be warned you may or may not need to OC your RAM to get it up to stock speeds!
