(More customer reviews)I bought this to use with a Mac Pro (desktop) and a laptop.The product is designed nicely, but appears to havean incompatibility with the Mac Pro - whenever I'd switch away from the Mac it would crash, and the error report upon booting suggested the crash was happening in an Nvidia driver.Apparently when you switch away the computer loses EDID information from the monitor, then crashes.I tried the competing Belkin model (F1DG102D) and, while about $30 more expensive, it works well (though it does use a power adapter, while the Iogear does not).One other quirk with the Iogear is that when booting the DVD drive would pop open.I'm using a Logitech wireless keyboard mouse combo, perhaps the problem is related, but I don't see this with the Belkin.

(More customer reviews)I recently did some much needed upgrades for my home office and this by far my favorite.I first saw it in Best Buy, came home to check for online reviews and to see if I could find it cheaper...I did at Amazon!

It's VERY easy to set up and is crystal clear.( I mean, razor sharp -- no stretched or blurred look anywhere!)However, there was something not quite right with the colors (especially greens) that really bothered me.PLUS the HP "My Display" software that goes with it that contains all of the drivers etc, is not fully functional on non HP machines. (meaning no calibration was available for color or contrast beyond what's built into the monitor itself which was never enough to fix my problem)I was so frustrated and disappointed.(I had been warned of this on another site but thought I'd take a gamble)Well, after trying to hook it up via the HDMI (from VGA) cable that came with it to a new $150 video card -- the colors were still way off and now the screen was all jumpy from that stupid card...(that went right back!) Then, I noticed something when I right clicked on my desktop to adjust my display settings (in XP pro) there was a selection (that had been there all along...duh) that said NVIDIA Control Panel (my internal graphics card) and I was able to calibrate the colors and adjust everything else there and now everything's hunky dory!When it first boots up, the colors look a little neon-ish again but within seconds it goes to the profile I created from my graphics card software.I am sure many would have figured it out sooner than I did, I just wanted to prevent anyone else from beating their head against the wall for a week like I did if I could.(BTW, I have completely removed the video card that I bought and it's hooked up via VGA and it is still crisp and clear)

**BTW, even though the My Display software is largely useless for me, I left it there.For some reason when I uninstalled it, the light that's under the transparent power button on the top of the monitor goes away.That was the only noticeable change after uninstalling it but it annoyed me, so I reinstalled it and it's back on and I just ignore the software**

My husband and I publish a local magazine that is glossy and full color and I am able to do so much more with this monitor than I could before.I can view two (sometimes 3) projects side by side if need be...I love that!And typing an email in outlook looks like it's in about a 60 font!And programs like Illustrator where you need a lot of workspace it's invaluable.I never have to scroll around to grab or view something.My last monitor was a 19" Sony flat panel (that cost more than TWICE what this one did 4 years ago) and I thought it was just fine but once I plugged this lil beauty in I quickly passed it on to my son for his computer.I haven't needed to use the portrait position of the screen so I haven't even tried it.But it came that way when it arrived and was very easy to swivel back around.

One bad thing...don't count on ditching your speakers for the ones that come with this one -- man do they stink!I swear my laptop has better speakers.But it's sort of like people griping that their cell phone camera doesn't take good enough pictures.If you want a good camera buy a camera!If you want a good monitor buy this one and just pretend the speakers aren't even there.The price is way worth it even without the speakers.

XFX Radeon HD 5750 1GB DDR5 PCIE Graphics Card HD575XZNFC Review

I got rid of the card to a friend and decided to get this supposedly "budget" card..

Tested on an AMD Phenom2 955 CPU with 4gb ddr2 in 3d mark both of these in crossfire mode beat out my 9800 GX2
i was able to hit 18792 in 3dmark

this card Overclocks like a dream!!! temp never went above 48C for me
got the core to 840 from the stock 700 and the mem to 1255 from the stock setting as well.
working perfectly, no hiccups, no problems! and LOW temps!!! the card runs quiet, i dont notice it.the eyefinity multiple display ability, Dx11 support small form of the card itself..great features.
this card will fit in any tower case i ever seen, its much shorter than the 5750 and even the 5850

this card is able to run all the modern games at excellent framerates. The beauty part is, that 2 of these (non OCed) in crossfire mode easily outperforms the 5850, and if you overclock them? Even better!

if your on a budget and want a extreme gaming rig with a 260 dollar video card investment, then buy 2 of these, and youll be ready to go,...for a while.
(i got mine for 130 a piece)
if you have time and dont mind waiting .wait for a single card that does roughly the same thing, like a 5850i was skeptical at first when buying the one card...i thought.."you get what you pay for" well ...somehow XFX and ATI broke the rules here...and delivered incredible power and gaming bliss at low a low price!

UPDATE:
The graphic quality seems to be better than my 9800 GX2, the textures have a warmer feel and look.

This card is great also at multitasking between different jobs. I have run 1080p movies to my HD TV and at the SAME TIME ran games like Left 4 dead 2 at MAX settings while having an mmorpg like Runes of magic (also max settigns) also running minimized on my computer ...NOSIGNIFICANT DROPS in framerates, no unplayable slowdown or choppiness whatsoever...
2 games, at the same time, i ping pong between the two of them while playing an HD movie on the TV

yeah im pretty happy with this card.

UPDATE 5-5-10

just one of these cards RIPS through games like Buishock2 and Mass effect 2 on MAX SETTINGS. framerate never drops in framerate i cant verify if its slightly under 60fps or higher, but its so smooth to play, its a beauty to behold.
as i test more newer games ill add them

This is a great motherboard when configured correctly.
Remember that the processor you purchase needs to support intel Graphics, otherwise you'll have to buy a separate pcie video card.

here's the link to the intel site for a list of processors that support integrated graphics, NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO i7 PROCESSORS IN THIS LIST:
since links are disabled try googling: "Which Intel? desktop processors contain integrated graphics"

the board comes with the voltage for ram set at 1.5V which usually needs to be increased to 1.6 or 1.65, (it's under the performace tab; change the memory profile)

I purchased an 8gb (4x2) from KomputerBay to work with this and found that I had to lower the "multiplier" to 8 to get it to POST.

The integrated DVI slot does not have a '+' style connector so you cannot use an adapter and have dual VGA ports, but you CAN have a DVI and VGA running at the same time without buying a video card.

(More customer reviews)I am using this monitor on an Apple early 2009 series 13" Aluminum Macbook via an AppleMiniDisplayPort->DVI adapter and the supplied DVI cable.The monitor is flawless (no dead pixels), crisp, bright and looks great at its full 1920x1080 resolution in millions of colors.Its response time is fast even with the Macbook driving both its internal screen at 1280x800 as well as this display.

This monitor allows me to use my Macbook as my sole machine (used to have a 24" iMac on my desk which was great but keeping multiple machines in sync is always a pain).I have not had to make any adjustments to the screen and its great for business use as well as viewing movies and pictures.

Thanks DELL - this is a great monitor regardless of price and the fact its such high quality at such a low price point makes it an exceptional value.

(More customer reviews)I bought this originally to reduce glare as I was getting strong eye-strain and occasionally headaches from staring at a computer all day. And in that sense it works great - I can actually turn up the contrast and brightness on my screen with this filter on and not have any eye-strain.
For privacy it is quite simply amazing!My colleagues at work are always teasing me saying "why are you staring at your monitor when it's turned off?" If you go off axis at all you literally think the monitor is off.But if you're sitting right in front of it, it looks great.Due to the size of this monitor (22") you do see a slight bit of the shading even looking straight on (i think it's unavoidable in this size given how the filter works its intention) but if you're doing normal computer work (documents, web pages etc) it's not noticeable after a minute.If you are a graphic artist, it might bug you a bit as you may not get an ultra accurate display of colors and/or resolution but the filter is easily removable if you opt not to use the included clear tape adhesive to mount it.I did end up using the tape because the filter didn't quite stay firmly mounted. (it bowed a bit on the sides) and unfortunately you can slightly see the little pieces of tape, but since they're on the sides, I don't really notice them.I would never use this at home but at work it has been worth every penny.

I downloaded the OS X driver from the manufacturer website, installed it, restarted and connected the monitor. Works just great and delivers a great picture. On more reason to like this adapter is that it comes super complete with adapters for VGA and HDMI and a USB cable. Given the fact that Apple takes 30 Dollars just for a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter (which, of course, you can also buy here at Amazon for $10) I find the $50 that I paid for this USB adapter a reasonable solution to connect another monitor to an iMac.

If you are into games then you know what a fast response time means. It means less video tearing and faster black to black. My last monitor was 8ms and I thought that it was perfect. Now with this one I am very impressed.

(More customer reviews)I work at an office where each computer has 4 screens.We had no difficulty getting desktop cards to run 4 screens, but laptops were a different story.We used to get these large Dell docking stations with a pci card slot.They no longer make these and the new ones will do two external screens with the laptop closed.We keep the laptops closed on the docks, so I needed 2 more screens.

We purchased another brand of USB adapters and while they worked, we had problems with them.If you open anything video intense (quicktime for instance) or that heavily used the microsoft .net framework, the screens would flicker and go crazy.You would lose control of the mouse and keyboard making the computer unusable.Quickbooks 2010 was one of these products.

The screens with the other brand of USB adapters were also somewhat fuzzy and much less clear than the 2 screens on the integrated video.

I had just about given up hope when I read about Display link.I mean all usb adapters are equal right?(Answer: No way!)I visited their website and saw the videos of one of their employees running 720p video and thought I would give it a shot.Plugable was one of their featured products.

What a difference!These Plugable adapters are almost identical to the integrated video.They have clean and crisp video and each one shows up as a separate monitor in the Windows display preferences.I was able to play video and open Quickbooks without error.PDFs and other documents also scrolled faster, identical to the speed of the integrated video. They used to lag before when on the usb adapter screens.

This product is highly recommended for those needing extra screens.Very highly recommended for laptop users because your video card options are limited.

I even had the company contact me to let me know that there had been a price drop shortly after I ordered, and they wanted to refund me the difference.Very few companies would do that, and it speaks volumes to the folks over at Plugable.Thanks again for making such a wonderful product.

(More customer reviews)This is my third Samsung PC LCD, owning both a 22" 1680x1050 226BW for over three years and a 25.5" 1920x1200 T260 for a year (had a bad 22" and got it replaced - the 226BW reviewed here January 19, 2008). Anyway, I bought the B2230 for a 3-LCD gaming rig setup. If it could be done over, I'd have bought another monitor, specifically the P2250, which I'll buy for the 3rd LCD to complete the setup.

First, the pixel pitch on this monitor is about the same as the 22" and 25.5" (.28xxx mm - the P2250 has .24xxx pixel density - more pixel density = better display quality). I was hoping for a little sharper clarity for a 1920x1080 resolution monitor in this size, especially considering the 25.5" shares nearly the same pixel density over 4" more of screen real estate. The 25.5" is as clear as the 21.5" in website text and the holy grail of display quality for me: cockpit instrument readability in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. There is of course a sharpness option on the menu, but it just doesn't help much for what I was expecting.

With that said, it's still an okay monitor for the average user. It's a few pounds lighter than the 22" and runs very cool. The touch menu options and feel are pretty standard for Samsung. People new to Samsung's PC LCDs may find the front bezel touch "buttons" awkward and hard to work with, but it sure beats trying to deal with Samsung's buttons on the side and bottom of my other two monitors blindly. Similarly, the gloss bezel may be a put-off to some and definitely is a dust and fingerprint magnet. But I like the gloss - it appears to be the norm these days from manufacturers and matches everything else in the house TV/monitor wise. No red "touch of color" here to match the gorgeous T260, but it still looks good on the desk. The mount does allow for tilt, but as so typical in this price range, no height adjustment.

Finally, the brightness of this monitor needs to be toned way down out of the box, to less than 60%. You will be spending some time calibrating this to your liking. All in all for those who want a run-of-the-mill 21.5" LCD that's 1080p capable, this is an acceptable monitor, but as mentioned, not recommended for those who appreciate higher pixel density output. Think of this LCD as the Enterprise rental Buick of 1080p Samsung monitors: it serves the purpose and grandpa thinks it's awesome, but not something to brag about to friends.

I shopped around and looked high and low for something with a nice dot pitch , fast responce time , bigger than my old 21" and at a fair price. I was not pleased with the old reviews of the last 24" Gateway so I stayed away from it. I saw a local store near me had this one in stock so I decided to take a look. Lucky for me and them that they had it on display. I looked at it ( 20" model ) and was very impressed by how crisp and clear the picture was. I noticed the text was tight and clean, very easy to read ( 0.265 Pixel Pitch )<---- this is why, the smaller the number the tighter the pixels are, the clearer the text will be. My other test in store was to put it on screen saver and see what "BLANK" looked like, test it to see back light bleed. Wow not bad at all, really not at all.

I bought the 23" model, I was sold after looking at how good it looked in the store. Funny thing is Gateway still does not have this monitor up on there website. Anyway, hook up was so easy, came out of the box fairly easy but was packed very well. It came with an HDMI cable, DVI cable and a VGA cable also the power cord. The base just popped on to the bottom of the screen with ease, so easy that when I did it I wasn't sure that I did it. Lets boot it up and see how it looks, NO DEAD or STUCK pixels yay! Had to tone down the brightness and contrast, lowerd the gamma. Breathtaking, as I saw my wallpaper come to life on this 23" beauty.

Game time, lets see how World Of Warcraft looks. It looks like a totaly new game, the colors really pop. No ghosting, or anything wrong. Really looks fantastic! Very happy with this screen and my dad was very happy to get my old Gateway 21" for his basement pc.

If your looking for a really nice monitor to buy I would refer you to this Gateway FHX2300 23" monitor. If thats a bit too big for you then go for the smaller HX2000 20" monitor. Both are winners in my book. The reason why I didn't jump at this monitor rite away was there where no reviews on it. I was waiting for someone to give it some sort of feedback. So, if your looking for a review here it is. At this price for this monitor, buy it. I compared this one to the HP 23" version and this Gateway beats it. Smaller bevel, makes the screen look even bigger. Priced less, stand does not wobble, nice and sturdy. Ok hehehe thats enough, I'm going on and on and on how wonderful and happy I am with my new 23" Gateway FHX2300. I should be doing better things like playing WoW than be on here. Bye...

(More customer reviews)As many today's "cheap and fast" LCD monitors this one is a 6 bit screen. This said it can only produce 262,144 exact colors - and do this very fast.
Other 16,515,072 colors are produced using very sophisticated Hi-FRC time-based dithering algorithm, that actually flicks monitor dot slightlyat very high frequency.
Most people do not notice HFRC dithering and it does not create any inconvenience for computer related activities or for watching movies or for playing games. Nevertheless Hi-FRC systems visibly change colors shade depending on screen tilt.

So if you are buying this screen for editing images (and I mean at least PhotoShop or Gimp here) or any other application that requires correct color representation you should consider more expensive 8 bit screen.

With exception of this detail the monitor is real value for money.

It should be mentioned that HDMI input and built-in speakers open couple of interesting capabilities for this product.
For example, using (included!) HDMI cable you can easily use it as a monitor for X-Box, PS-3 (but not for Wii) or DVD player with HDMI output. Or you can connect it to your cable provider hi-def box therefore instantly converting monitor to small HDTV. The only problem is quality of integrated speakers - see below.

Well, I am still using it as a computer monitor, connected by (included!) DVI cable and pretty happy with the image quality. The screen is sharp, bright and I do not have a single dead pixel (but your mileage may vary, of course). Oh, and they include the VGA cable too, just in case.

Other pleasant details are touch controls instead of buttons and a special control for fast switching between Text, Game, Cinema and User monitor profiles.

Acer also includes program utility for some fair color correction, though as I say - if you need a better one, you may need an 8 bit LCD.

There are some drawbacks, of course.
First, the screen cannot be adjusted vertically (but you can adjust tilt).
Second, as I have mentioned, this tilt changes colors slightly. If you look from below, colors seems darker.
Third, integrated speakers are not suitable for stadium concerts... well, to be frank, with 1.5 watt power they barely acceptable as desktop speakers. It's probably a good thing one cannot connect Wii to this monitor, because it will be really hard to hear anything from the safe distance required for Wii controller.

Despite all drawback this is well deserved 5 star product. One cannot expect to buy luxury car for the price of low end sedan. In its category, for this price and as of today this monitor is a brilliant product.

(More customer reviews)I've owned this monitor for 3 months and have had no problems.Screen is very bright and the colors vibrant (and appear true); contrast is terrific.Required no setup with Windows 7; just plug it into the computer port and you're ready to go.The screen has a non-reflective, matte surface so it works very well in a bright environment.There are quite a few customization settings (accessible through the familiar button interface on the front panel), but I didn't feel the need to adjust beyond usual brightness and contrast.Price is *significantly* lower than competitors, and performs as well as much more expensive monitors I've had in the past.Asus has a good reputation so I anticipate this monitor will last as long time.
