Uniden Big Button Desktop Corded Phone (CEZ260) Review

This corded phone was a replacement for a GE corded phone that I have grown to dislike. This set up of this Uniden phone was easy, it was easy to understand and again, the sound quality is excellent!I always have one "corded" phone in the house -- it is great in a power outage because it still works. The light on the side lights up when an incoming call is coming in -- you can have the volume all the way down but with this light, you will still know a call is coming in (the light should get your attention if you're in the same room as this phone).I would recommend this to family/friends.It is a great phone at a great price.

It is hard to capture how beautiful this computer is in words much less video.
You have to see it in person.

I accidentally listed it on-screen as 2.26GHz, it should say 2.66GHz.

I took a stab at a video review.

I hope you enjoy.
Let me know your feedback, thanks!

Logitech Wireless Keyboard K320 Review

Logitech Wireless Keyboard K320
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this keyboard (and the Logitech Performance MX Mouse) as part of my home office remodeling / update, as I wanted a wireless keyboard and mouse that used Logitech's Unifying receiver.

Installation was a breeze, I launched the Unifying setup program from within SetPoint, and added my keyboard with minimal fuss. Both the mouse and keyboard work flawlessly through the single receiver (about time, Logitech!)

This keyboard is basically a Unifying wireless version of the Logitech Internet 350 and Logitech Deluxe 250 budget keyboards (which I also use and love). The keyboard layout and dimensions are very similar.

Pros:
- Simple setup
- Excellent key-feel. Uses the standard Logitech Budget keys and switches.Very familiar.
- Fantastic Unifying Wireless receiver (works with other Unifying devices). This receiver is TINY!
- Standard keyboard layout (a MUST. Who uses L shaped Enter keys, small backspace, or non-traditional insert delete rows?)
- A couple of nice multimedia keys. I like the volume keys (+, -, mute). I don't really use the rest.
- Includes number pad. Casual users may not use this, but as a professional programmer, I occasionally need one. Perfect for my needs.

Cons:
- OK battery life. It turns itself off when not in use, but the 3 year claim has got to be wishful thinking from Logitech.
- Packaging. Amazon sent this keyboard in a truly gigantic box. I appreciate the concern, but surely 1 inch of packing material on all sides is enough. This thing was cradled in 1 foot of Amazon's brown packing paper on all sides.

Final Notes:
- The included SetPoint software was woefully out of date. Get the one from Logitech's website instead.
- The whole point of the Unifying receiver is for multiple devices to work on the same nano-receiver. I suggest getting a mouse to match your fancy new keyboard.
- The K340 and K350 are also Unifying Wireless Keyboards, but the K350 uses the wave shape ("ergonomic") and the K340 uses a non-standard key-layout. I'm a keyboard purist, so the K320 was the only option for me

Got this case to do a partial upgrade...due to heat issues with a bargain case which looked good...but had few ways to cool the components.Saw this on Amazon & other websites...read the specs & reviews of others & I was hooked.

The only thing the reviews did not mention was to clean the front panel air filters...the best things to have are either canned air or a hair dryer. This way you can blow them out from the inside & snap the front back onto the whole case.

eMachines ET1831-07 Desktop (Black) Review

eMachines ET1831-07 Desktop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was having trouble with an old computer (single processor with Windows XP that I have had for 8 years) at a remote site and was looking at replacing some parts when I stumbled across this. When I looked at the cost of replacing the parts of the old computer with buying this one, it was no contest. If you add up all the parts for this computer (purchase them separately here on Amazon), it gets close to $600. This is truly an amazing buy and the speed is actually really good. I have an I-7 960 with a solid state drive (that was extremely expensive to buy) on my other computer and even though this doesn't match that one, it doesn't do a bad job of keeping up. Really, this does a decent job at an incredible price. I would recommend this for anyone replacing an older computer.

For this price, this a great for normal light computer uses, like surfing the web, watching a DVD, answering email, playing a low-end video game. If that is all you ever want to do, then the price should convince you to buy this. But what really impresses me is that (compared to my older computer) this can also do the more sophisticated items much faster. Rendering a video, expanding a zip file, dealing with several tasks at the same time, playing a higher end video game. I am rather impressed by the ability of this computer to do what you would expect in a computer twice as much.

Just on a side note, I deleted all those "trial" programs. I had bought Office Home and Student for another computer and it allows 3 installations, so I just used that. I downloaded AVAST, which is a free virus protection program with great ability. I loaded Firefox instead of using Internet Explorer (IE just doesn't have enough features and is too buggy) and Thunderbird as a replacement for Outlook. I also use TeamViewer to connect all my computers instead of PCAnywhere, PCtoGo, or Windows RDP. All those programs are free (CNet), work on Windows 7, and run much faster and bug free.

Samsung B2430H 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black Review

Samsung B2430H 24 inch Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Quick Review:

PRO:By far the nicest, cleanest picture I've ever had using a monitor.Amazing color and clarity, plus supports RGB for older monitors, HDMI for a TV/game input, and DVI for a normal computer display.
CON:No buttons.Front touchpanel not friendly to my ogre hands. While you read this review, you'll think I'm an idiot for having trouble turning the thing on and getting it to switch to the right display (yes, I tried the 'power' and 'Source' buttons). But I just might have my comeuppance when you're sitting in front of a darkened monitor that won't display anything. Some fiddling/luck/time got it working and it's been a champ since.

PS:This monitor (at time of review) is listed under 3D monitors on amazon.com.It is not 3D ready for Nvidia's 3D tech, and at 60Hz, the best you'd get is 30fps 3D, if your graphics card even supports that. However, even though I bought this monitor on the off-chance that it was 3D compatible, I'm still keeping it since it's so pretty.

MSI AE2220-25SUS 21.6-Inch Black Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) Review

MSI AE2220-25SUS 21.6 inch Black Desktop PC
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is being updated as of late March 2010 to maintain accuracy.MSI has added models to their already long lineup. The TV tuner in my first 25SUS failed, the keyboard was DOA, and Amazon replaced the entire unit.More on that below, but I have to give Amazon 5 stars for their outstanding customer service. As always, be sure of your warranty and return policies. Plus: Lots of good user comments at the bottom of this review.

This review is about MSI's Wind Top "Multi Touch" (touch screen) AE2220 25SUS. The 2220 Series now apparently has seven models, the 25, 26, 27, 66, and 69SUS, and now the 236 and 237US. You can also find the 1900, the 2010, the 2020 and the 2200 series in MSI's ALL-In-One line of PC's. The here reviewed AE2220 25SUS probably qualifies as the top model of the entire line as of this date (now see AE2220 237US also). If you do a search for this specific model you will find a very good (and very positive) review at Benchmark Reviews, one which also links to an exhaustive Lavalys EVEREST configuration report. And as noted below, check YouTube.

Not to confuse the issue, but there is also an "AE 2220 Hi Fi" glowingly reviewed on the web, although the model is NOT listed on MSI's U.S. website as of this date and does NOT appear to be available in the states."Hi Fi" elements may be built into the 25SUS.A highly configurable and more expensive AE 2240 model is supposed to appear in the second quarter of 2010. MSI has also shown concept 3D and hybrid projector machines. MSI breeds computers like rabbits. There are 21 models in the Wind Top line on MSI's US site (msicomputer) right now, and it ain't gonna get any simpler unless they start shooting some of them.

Be aware that as of the date of this review the AE2220 pictures on Amazon are outdated, including those of the rear panel. I have posted some user pictures which should be of some help.If you do a search for this unit you will find pictures of a black rectangle mounted in clear plexiglass, and that seems to be what is shipping. It is what I received. Further, the specifications listed on Amazon (and elsewhere) are sometimes incomplete and incorrect. Go to msicomputer (the U.S. site, not the Global) to very carefully check the specifications of the All-In-One model you are considering. Some have touch screens and some do not; some are XP, some Vista, some Win 7, now there are three 64 bit models; there is a variety of processors, hard drives and on-board memory in the Wind Top line, and I have found no way to do a side-by-side comparison. The 25SUS and the 2220-237US may be the only ones with a built-in hi definition capable TV tuner.

What is it? This is an "All-In-One" (AIO) PC, that new generation of computer which combines all of its components--save for the keyboard, mouse and power supply--into the same space occupied by (in this case) a 21.5" diagonal monitor. It really is a hybrid: It is a quite powerful "multi" touch screen PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit; it is a computer monitor, because it has inputs; it is a high definition capable television with a built-in tuner; it is a high definition video playback device with a built in Blue Ray DVD player and it is also an advanced audio playback device with incredible on board sound. Wireless 802.11b/g/n integrates it seamlessly into your network.

AE2220 25SUS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, Intel? Core 2 Duo T6600 (2.2GHz), NVIDIA? GeForce 9300 Integrated Graphics (256MB VRAM), 21.5" Multi-Touch Widescreen (16:9), 1920 x 1080, 1080p, 4GB DDRII 800MHz SDRAM, 500GB SATA2 Hard Disk Drive, Blu-Ray Disc(tm) playback, CD/DVD playback/burning (no Light Scribe mentioned), 802.11b/g/n (Wireless), HD Audio, 2.0 Speakers with SRS Premium Sound, 1 x S/PDIF-OUT, 1 x Microphone-IN, 1 x Headphone-OUT, 1.3MP Webcam with Microphone, 4-in-1 Card Reader, 6 x USB 2.0, 1 x eSATA IN, 1 x VGA Monitor-IN, 1 x HDMI Monitor-IN, 1 x LAN jack (RJ45). Dimensions 21.81" W x 15.89" H x 2.42 D", about 26 pounds.

Ships with the All-In-One CPU, wireless keyboard and mouse, external power supply, remote control, HD TV antenna, antenna to coax adapter, documents, NO OS media.

You can put it on your desk, which is really cool, but this thing is just begging to be placed on your kitchen counter or hung on a wall. It's being sold as a piece of interactive art, and it's an attractive idea. You must disassemble and remove the support standto install a standard VESA wall mount. I will send you a link to this information if you ask in the comments below. In the kitchen or den it becomes a touch screen source for news, weather, sports or whatever, be it on TV or the Internet; a beautiful display for digital photographs; an Internet radio, with superb on board sound; a complete media center with high definition DVD playback and, well, on and on. Further, among competing models by other manufacturers the MSI Wind Top line offers exceptional value.

This is not really a gaming machine, although it will run up to mid-level games quite well. True gaming machines generate a lot of heat and therefore need lots of cooling, and the All-In-One configuration is not yet where serious gamers should be looking. This low power consumption PC--something like 90 watts under full load--was NOT built with gamers in mind, and criticizing the 25SUS on this basis is not only silly but a waste of time. One can, however, theoretically hook up a gaming console to this machine through the HDMI port (I have not personally done so) and use it as a 1080p gaming monitor.

Unfortunately I both love this machine and am shaking my head. It should be a 5 star product, but I am docking it 1 star for documentation and 1 for hardware issues to give it a 3.

I started my search for a new desktop with several criteria in mind: I wanted a reasonably powerful Windows 7 64 bit machine (the 25SUS is 32 bit) and I really wanted a built-in TV tuner. I looked at everything in the all-in-one genre, particularly Sony and HP; I liked the Sony, and then came across this one. It seemed to have everything I wanted in a compact design and at an incredible price point for what was offered, particularly the port configuration where HP was lacking. Plus, it was cutting edge, sort of. I know MSI components very well, MSI has a terrific reputation and this one was getting very good ink.

Now for the problems. The first lies in MSI's documentation, which is absolutely abysmal ("Yeah, we hear that all the time" an MSI tech told me on one of my calls). When you are looking to buy a product of this caliber you want very good, highly accurate and detailed pre-purchase information, and preferably a simple way to do comparisons among models. You CAN get what appear to be accurate technical details on specific models at MSI's U.S. site (msicomputer), NOT the Global--this is another source of confusion--and I strongly suggest that you do. Still, much of the information on the web is generic, lacking in critical detail, sometimes conflicting and occasionally written in poor English.

Take the operating system. It is listed almost everywhere as "Windows 7 Home Premium", with no reference online or in the manual as to whether it is 32 or 64 bit. You may see the CPU listed as "64 bit capable" but this is irrelevant. Most new computers in this league, including laptops, are today shipping with 64 bit systems. This is not a minor detail. The 25SUS is shipping with a 32 bit system (now three AE 2220 64 bit models at msicomputer, see below), and the only way you can ascertain this is to go into the machine's functions and directly check the specification.I ran the the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor on my machine and it states that the system is 64 bit compatible. Why MSI chose to ship a 32 bit system is anyone's guess, although they may have had reasons for so doing.Further clouding the issue, MSI lists 64 bit drivers on its website alongside the x86 drivers for this machine. So, don't be surprised if 64 bit systems suddenly and spontaneously appear in the Wind Top line...

UPDATE:Apparently in "MSI Speak" if the system spec doesn't specifically state "64 bit" you can assume it's 32 bit.MSI is now listing three "Windows? 7 64 bit Home Premium" models at msicomputer, the AE 2020-098US, the AE2220-236US, and the AE2220-237US.The 237US appears to most closely match the 25SUS in hardware specs, but may now be the top of the line unit given a slightly larger hard drive and the 64 bit operationg system.

A 64 bit bump on the 25SUS would not be for the faint of heart, given the MSI support mess, although we'd like to hear from any of you who are so brave.

OK, so you go to the manual and download it in advance, right? The "manual" for this unit, if it can be called that (Revision V1.1), is for the AE 2220 "series" and is an absolute disaster. It makes no distinction among five models, even though there are significant differences among them.Worse, the "information" therein is incomplete, conflicting and downright inaccurate. Update:MSI now lists a manual Revision 1.2 downloadable for the AE2220 series at msicomputer. The manual is a definite improvement, but is still sorely lacking.

And now let's move on to the hardware problems, which are exemplified in Revision 1.1...

...like MEMORY. The manual specifically states that "2 DDR2 667/ 800 SO-DIMM slots (200 pins/ 1.8V)...Supports the maximum of 8 GB".BUT, online specifications for the 2220 series state that the amount is fixed and CANNOT be changed. In fact there is a removable cover on the back of the machine concealing two 2 GB (4 GB total) chips and no open slots. Whether these can be bumped to 2 x 4 = 8 GB is anyone's guess; as of today Crucial's scanner comes up blank and support is quoting...Read more›

First, it's an LG Commercial product, so if you look on LG consumer site it doesn't exist, go look for real info here:
[...]

Note it's LightScribe capable. I had no idea when I bought it. (Pleasant Surprise).

The software is Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 (on a BlueRay disk), along with a number of other pieces of Cyberlink software (Advisor, LabelPrint, MediaShow 4, Power2Go, PowerBackup, PowerProducer and YouCam) After installation, the software does allow for playing BlueRay movies (tested with Quantum of Solace).

It also came with a SATA cable, 4 case screws and a MOLEX to SATA power converter cable, and an actual manual. For OEM it's a very complete package.

I've only had it for two days, connected to Windows 7 64 bit OS.

Kensington Slim Type Keyboard - PC ( 64365 ) Review

Kensington Slim Type Keyboard - PC
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I prefer laptop keyboards because the keys have a shorter actuation distance, which seems to make typing less stressful. The Slim Type actuation distance isn't as small as an iBook keyboard, but I think it's smaller than the keyboards of some Dells I've used. Maybe it's also the feel of the "crisp" "scissor-switch" keys as advertised above - "crisp" is certainly accurate. Anyway, I find that with this keyboard I can type a lot longer before my wrists start to hurt, as compared to normal desktop keyboards. Plus, the low profile (less than an inch high) means that I don't need a wrist support, I can rest my hands comfortably on my desk.Update: yes, I've noticed the problem mentioned in another review with keys "sticking", with both keyboards that I own. What happens is that about every half an hour the keyboard power-cycles, and when it comes back on, if it powered off or maybe came on when a key was depressed then things can get in a weird state - pressing other keys fixes it. The power-cycling itself is annoying, since I can't type for the two seconds or so that it takes to complete - the key repeating part I find less so, since it only happens occasionally. It isn't as bad for the user as it sounds, although it is indeed a major design flaw. I didn't mention it earlier because I thought it might be a Linux problem, I'm sorry if I misled other buyers. I'll wait and see if I can get replacements from Kensington.

I originally purchased this item as I build quite a few computer systems at home, and I got tired of opening the PC cases 100 times to shuffle parts/components around. The great thing about this product is that it is a fraction of the cost of the test benches, looks pretty cool, and works exactly as advertised.

The product is all acrylic and comes in pieces that you assemble yourself. It takes a little time, but there are good instructions and I had the entire case together in less than 30 minutes. For such a simple design, I was really impressed at all of the adjustments that this case can make to fit various computer parts. There are screw holes all over the place, so it allows you to attach different power supplies, types of motherboards, drives, video cards, etc with ease.I have a full size motherboard, video card, cd-rom drive, 2 hard drives, full size power supply hooked up on it right now.

The only real "con" I can think of is that it is an open case, so there is nothing to keep dust off of the components, but a quick blast of compressed air every 3 weeks and I'm good to go.I actually think I see less dust on the open case than I do in my closed pc cases where it has no way of escaping.

I can't recommend this product enough. It does exactly what it says, the seller had it to me very fast, and costs a lot less than a full blown tech-bench.

*Two Thumbs Up!*

Dell Studio One 19 Charcoal Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) Review

Ordered this computer for Christmas. It's a great all-in-one.Perfect size for our small office and, so far, seems to run well with no glitches. However, I checked the specs on this after I got it set up.It does NOT possess a 3.6 ghz processor speed.I was very disappointed and saddened by the apparent typo in the description by Amazon.I ordered it primarily due to its advertised speed of 3.6, but turns out the speed is 2.6 instead.

Bad news for my family and me!That is my biggest complaint and I will contact Amazon about this. Now they've even dropped the price on it since Christmas and it appears to be an even better buy for anyone seeking a small, all-in-one computer.

Screen is very clear; wireless keyboard & wireless mouse both feel a bit cheap, but still will be ok for our needs.Dell Studio One 19 Charcoal Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium)

Kensington MicroSaver Twin Lock for Notebook Computers, Monitors K64025F Review

Kensington MicroSaver Twin Lock for Notebook Computers, Monitors K64025F
Average Reviews:

I ordered this cable to protect two laptops at a time. The cable is thicker and stronger than other cables, and it has two locks, one at the end, and one slideable across the cable. I preferred this one above the ones with a four digit code, because it's not possible for a thief to cut the cable and try all the combinations at home. After lots of problems to order the cable at Kensington and another webstore, it was very easy to order it at Amazon. I had it shipped to a hotel while I was on a roundtrip in the USA, and it was delivered at the promised date. I'm really satisfied by both the cable and the reliability of Amazon.

Antec Twelve Hundred ATX 12 Drive Bays 2xUSB 2.0 eSATA Audio Full Tower Case Review

Antec Twelve Hundred ATX 12 Drive Bays 2xUSB 2.0 eSATA Audio Full Tower Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The outside of the box gives you a tease of what lies inside:the cool midnight blue lights; the viewing panel on the side of the case; and the mammoth fan that sits on the top of the case.

Opening the box reveals the sheer size of this case.1200 could stand for 1200lbs, 1200fans, or 1200 drive bays. The case weighs over thirty pounds. It stands almost two foot tall. The front of the case is populated with twelve...TWELVE drive bays.Fans are distributed liberally throughout the case.

Removing both side panels reveals the vast interior. You could easily stack 2-3 laptops inside the case.Looking for an SLI case? The Twelve Hundred has the space. It swallowed my nForce Ultra 790i Ultra motherboard and EVGA GTX 280 and still has space for two more GTX 280s.

The power supply sits at the bottom of this case.Don't even think about installing anything less than a 750W power supply.Preferably something with a LOT of connectors. You will need several 4pin connectors for all the fans.Fortunately, they can be daisy-chained.

Another key feature of this case is the ability to run cables UNDER the motherboard. The motherboard attaches to a metal plate in the case.Under that plate is a space to run almost all of the wires used in a PC.SATA, fans, front panel wires, and just about anything else. The plate has openings at strategic points where cables typically connect. The end-result is a very clean looking and professional installation -- which you can show off using the viewing panel on the left side of the case.

The twelve drive bays are grouped into 3 sets of 4.Each group has its own fan.Installation of 5.25in and 3.5in drives was easy and intuitive. There was a brief moment of confusion on my part when trying to attach drives to the bay.The usual "short" screws are not used with this case.Instead, there are 1" screws used to mount drives into bays.

About the only drawback is the rudimentary front-panel.It works -- but looks very plain. After the exotic design inside the case, the lighting, the fans, etc, the front panel is a bit of a let down.

Still, I am absolutely thrilled with this case.Highly recommend for gamers, high-end graphics workstations, or users with massive storage requirements.

Logitech LX6 Cordless Optical Mouse Review

I wanted a mouse mouse to use on one of my other computers and just happened to stumble across this nice LX6 on clearance at target.Since I have an LX7 on my main computers, I figured I'd give this one a shot.

First off, the differences. As far as I can tell, the only differences is the lack of back/forward buttons, the large receiver, and some very minor design changes.

Performance wise, this mouse seems to work just as well as my LX7.Both are rather heavy using a pair of AA batteries, but in turn you get outstanding battery life.My LX7 will last at least 4 months of pretty heavy daily use.A little side note, if the weight is really a problem, the mouse will work with a single battery.I have not tested this for an extended time but have confirmed both my LX6 and LX7 will work without both batteries...go figure!)

Buttons have a nice feel to them. While I don't use the left/right scroll-wheel click, all other clicks have a soft feel.I will say they are almost too soft.Well, except for the center-click, though it seems much easier on the LX6 than my LX7.

There's really not much else to say regarding this fairly basic mouse. However, if all you need is a basic mouse, this is probably about as good as they get.No software is required either (unless you do want the left/right wheel clicks)

Dell 0cj344 Sk-8115 Rt7d10 Usb Computer Keyboard - NEW Review

Dell 0cj344 Sk-8115 Rt7d10 Usb Computer Keyboard - NEW
Average Reviews:

Granted, it is not your top of the line keyboard. It comes standard with all new Dell desktops! It is lightweight, however flexible. The cord is three feet long, which is perfect for my set up. It is compact design, however it is not so small that it wouldn't do well in a lap! Now, the compactness is not a tight key space - the keys are comfortably spaced. It is just the edges of the keyboard are really snug and tight to the keys. Addtionally, I think it looks pretty good for something that cost $14. Yes, it is a little weird looking. I bought this to replace my other keyboard because I did not really like the keys. This keyboard - I really like this one a lot! I do not care if it doesn't have any of those extra features. I never got into enough of a habit to put those extra hot keys to good use anyway! At times, simple is beautiful.

In summary:

The keyboard is a little flexible. However, the keys have a good response, the keyboard hascompact design, and the cord is about three feet long. IF however the keyboard breaks, it will not break the bank!

In addition to all these great features, it has several holes on the underside in case of an unfortunate accident. If you want simple compact keyboard, a good key response, and a long thick cord, go with the Dell L100!

HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer (CH376A#B1H)

I bought this printer to replace my old Lexmark that was very faithful but used very expensive ink. I wasn't
interested in wireless, but wanted a new scanner also and this item was very well priced. The install was painless on windows 7 and took only 10 min. including tests. Printer, copier and scan worked flawlessly. my only concern
is noise when printing starts. I hear several bumps and grinds as printing begins and I hope this is normal.
