Also, as another reviewer mentioned, it does NOT have lights to indicate button status such as CAPS LOCK, Num Lock, Scroll Lock, etc. Fear not, there is a solution to this. You can find the solution at sourceforge dot net. All the software there is OPEN SOURCE which is even better. :D Go there and type in "caps lock" and hit enter. The program is called "keystate". I'd give you a direct link here but Amazon won't allow me which is why I've had to edit my review.

Be sure to download the "static" version. This will show you the status of those above mentioned buttons on your screen.

The range of this thing is impressive to say the least. My computer is in my backroom and I closed the door, went into the kitchen, out the side exterior door with it closed and stood on the porch and held down the buttons in notepad. It typed them just as I did. That must've been 35 feet and through multiple walls. I also play processor intensive games and I need a keyboard that doesn't have any lag because I have to act very quickly on my game or I could end up losing. So far, there is NO lag at all. Not even a little bit.

The mouse seems pretty cheap. Though, they didn't tell me this in the description but the mouse is actually a 5 button mouse which is great! I was expecting only a 3 button mouse. So that makes up for the cheapness of it.

Also, both the mouse and the keyboard only require 1 AAA battery each. Though, you can put two in each to extend the range or longevity of use before replacing the battery.

Media buttons on both sides including Play, Pause, next, back, mute, volume up, volume down, and default music player launch.

It also has computer hotkeys at the top. Such as Sleep, My computer, calculator, search, refresh, (a star key), mail, and home page. It is a tad bit heavier than other wireless keyboards but that's probably due to the fact that it's a 2.4 ghz wireless keyboard and not one of the lesser type.

I've had it now for a little over 24 hours. If this thing breaks or anything goes wrong, I will come back here and update this review. Otherwise, assume that everything is just fine.

UPDATE: It stopped working. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was. I reinserted the CD and it would start working again and then shortly stop there after. I'm running Windows XP but you know when it comes to software there are too many variables to consider. It's hard to know if it was my fault or the keyboards fault. All I know is, it stopped working and I had to resort to my previous keyboard. Also, the brand "Frisby" I do not recognize so I would have to say I would no longer recommend this item. Unfortunately, I can't change my star rating or I would drop it to a 3.

I have owned 12 Iomega drives over the years, and 2 have failed.Both had the interface adapter fail, and not the drive itself.When I pulled the drives, they worked fine when directly connected to the PC internal connectors.Some of these devices have been running continuously for the past 5 years providing daily backups in a scripted rotation sequence.

I haven't had any trouble with this device and I was pleased that it did not have any of the fan or drive noise so many have complained about.Those that complained about the heat should put an external fan source to keep air flowing around the enclosure.

One complaint though - it came formatted for a MAC.It would have been nice to have a choice of formatting available when purchasing the device.This was a time consuming first setup because I never use the quick format option.This was what kept the device from being rated a 5.

Can't wait for USB 3.0!

I used it to power 4 Panasonic Poe IP cameras over CAT-6 Ethernet cables (2 of which are over 100-feet away) with zero drop outs. All four of these cameras are also outputting 640x480 30fps video simultaneously with no drop-out.Just plug in and go, setup can't be easier.

As an added bonus, it has vents on the left, right and back for ventilation to keep it cool without any fan noise.

Logitech Rx1000 Scroll Tilt Laser Mouse Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Logitech Rx1000 about 9 months ago as a gaming and working mouse, and I've got to say, it's performed perfectly thus far.

For gaming, it's wired and it's USB, both pluses for the required instant response time. It has a very high DPI for perfect accuracy and it moves easily without being too light.

For productivity and windows usage, the clicking has a perfect feel, the buttons are in finger-predictable spots, the scroll wheel almost never gets stuck in that in-between spot where just tapping it will force a web page to scroll up & down (If it does get stuck, hold the wheel down hard and scroll up and down a few times, it will fix itself). Sideways scrolling via the scroll wheel is easy, and the scroll-wheel-click is firm but not difficult.

This is the first non-trackball mouse I've owned that doesn't omit that terrible eye-blinding laser you have to watch your kids around. I didn't know that when I purchased it, but now I think I'll never go back. It works so well! It tracks really well on nearly every surface, so I've completely ditched the mouse pad, which I've wanted to do for years. This mouse never "floats" like every one of the older laser mice I've used -- you know, where you put the mouse down on one spot in your desk, and it just mysteriously walks around by itself. That problem is solved here, as well as cleanliness problems had by many other mice, where they have a ridge around the sides that somehow collect any and every piece of dirt from your hands and saves it so that you can never truly clean it. This mouse is almost completely seamless on all sides. On the cleanliness note, I do scrape the mouse-crud from the gliders on the bottom every few months, but they're flat and the gunk scrapes off easily.

One, very small possible downside, is it feels a little different than some mice - it's a different shape - narrower. I have a medium-sized hand, and it feels fine, but I could see someone with much larger hands having trouble. Actually, I think it helps save me from repetitive stress, forcing me to handle it a little differently than my hand is used to, so I would call it a plus for me.

Also - I would NOT recommend installing the Logitech software. The drivers are useless if you have XP, Vista or better (and works fine in Linux), and not installing the drivers disables the completely useless "search button". The button itself is low-profile, but accidentally hitting it a few times will give you a new lesson in anger management.

Overall, I've loved owning the Rx1000 Logitech mouse, and would recommend to everyone I know.

Brother PT9500PC P-touch Desktop Label Maker Review

(More customer reviews)I've had numerous P-Touch models over the years, and I think the output they produce is superb. The software for the Mac, on the other hand, has lagged far behind its Windows counterpart. Older versions of the software, in particular, had problems with anything except TrueType fonts.

Now I see that Brother finally released version 5 of the software for OS X. I downloaded it and was pleasantly surprised to see that it had an entirely different, more Mac-like interface, and it handled all of my fonts just fine. I was quite pleased until I tried to use some of my OTHER programs.

It seems that if you uninstall the older version of the software before installing this one--something Brother tells you to do in the instructions--IT WILL WIPE OUT FILES USED BY OTHER PROGRAMS! So far the uninstaller has trashed Office 2008, Acrobat Pro, Adobe Reader, iWork '08, Adobe Creative Suite CS3 and OmniOutliner. It's hard to tell what others might be affected as well. I ended up having to do a clean reinstall of my system, which was NOT a small task.

So, buy the printer if you like, but BEWARE the uninstaller!

Antec NSK4480B ATX Mini Tower PC Case (Black) Review

The finish on the case is flawless, and came nicely protected by well engineered packaging.

The Power supply is just about silent and equipped with 4 SATA power connectors so you don't have to use adapters if you are mounting SATA hardware. The length of the internal power lines are good too. They will reach anywhere in the case. I cannot say enough about the low noise aspect of the psu. It also has a high effeciency rating. You can even go to the Antec website to calculate the size of the psu you will need based on your hardware requirements.

The 120 mm case fan is also silent and keeps my micro ATX motherboard nice and cool. The case came with pre-marked motherboard mounting holes and enough brass stand-offs for any installation.

The only thing keeping this from being a 5 Star review is that I had to alter the Power LED connector to make it work with a conventional motherboard. For some reason, the LED connector occupies 3 pins on the Panel 1 spot on the motherboard, and almost every one I have seen only wants to give it 2. The fix is pretty easy. Just take an x-acto knife and release the barb pressure on the lead in the connector and re-arrange them until you get the configuration you need.

Overall a fantastic product at a fantastic price and with free shipping you don't add $20 to the cost by ordering online.

Sharp EL-334TB Semi-Desktop Basic Calculator Review

(More customer reviews)I'm ordering this calculator as a replacement for the EL-334MB that my kids spilled soda pop on and gummed up the keys. Prior to that, the little dear functioned beautifully, was a replacement itself for a similar Casio and a no-name cheapy purchased at the drug store. Neither of those measured up to my day-to-day use. Goodness knows, I've owned dozens of calculators over the years, and in every case have had one reason or another to dislike them all. The Sharp EL-334MB was different. I loved using it and it became a sort of pet of mine, so when Matt's ginger ale toppled over onto it, I heaved a sigh and immediately began to plan where to get another one. The local Office Max didn't have it (that's where I got the first one) but Amazon did, thank goodness. Some notable good points: Nice size, keys feel good, attractive, always works regardless of ambient light, nice big display, has that handy "00" key that I've used a lot more than I would have guessed, doesn't need batteries, and the keys are intelligently arranged. I just really got used to it and was very happy with it. I highly recommend this calculator.

I bought this P6X58D because it features USB 3.0 and SATA 6 GB/s. Do I really need that right now? No, but those will be the new standard and I want a board that doesn't go obsolete in six months.

Process Cooler - Cooling Master V8 (from my last computer)
Processor - Intel Core i7 960 3.2GHz
Case - Cooler Master Cosmos ATX Full Tower Case Silver
Power Supply - Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Certified
DVD/CD drive - Sony Nec Optiarc 24X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW SATA (3G) Drive
Main Hard Drive - Intel 160 GB X25M Mainstream SATA II (3G) Solid State Drive (SSD)
Graphic card - ATI Radeon 4870 1GB (from my last computer)
Additional Data Hard Drives - 2 X Western Digital 1.5 TB Caviar Green SATA (3G) Intellipower. one Maxtor 300GB ATA drive (removed from my last computer).Graphics is reused as I will wait a bit longer to replace it. I picked this board because it is fast and I wanted to take full advantage of the solid state drive. I did not buy any SATA-6G hard drives but can do that in the future. I opted for slower data drives since my programs will run off the solid state drive. I also installed my old SATA drive from my last computer so I can pull the information off. The motherboard comes with six SATA-3G ports so I used four for the hard drives, one for the front port eSATA, and one for the DVD writer. However, there are two SATA-6G ports I have not used, so I can still add two more drives or SATA-6G attachments.

This system is superfast with windows start-up amazingly quick. I cannot break down each component and say what contributes the most to the speed, but the motherboard seems to handle everything without conflict. Installation was no problem as all the components has easy to find locations and I did not have to set any pins. I have not optimized anything yet, just defaults at this point, so there is more to do, but I am glad you can trust a board to work well and that is what I got with this ASUS. So for the combination of features and reliability, I don't think you can do much better.

The only disappointment for me in the board is that it only has eight 2.0 USB ports. Eight may sound like a lot but with cameras, iphone, usb memory sticks, external hard drives, printer, and a few other objects wanting USB ports, I quickly run out (yes I can use an external hub but rather not). The motherboard does have two 3.0 ports but my case has 4 USB slots in the front port and I also wanted to install a Sony 18-1 card reader. With the four permanently attached USB ports on the back panel, I could not plug in the four front and the card reader. So for now I am doing without the card reader until I resolve the problem. But that does not take away from how well this board is performing.

(More customer reviews)This computer is my 5th desktop unit and I can honestly say that it is the most amazing piece of equipment that I have ever owned.The quad-core processor works with lightning speed and has no problem handling several RAM-hog applications simultaneously, with ease.It has more than enough USB ports for my needs, with 2 of them easily accessed from the front panel.The wireless feature is a God-send, and blends in nicely with my other wireless equipment in my home.The Blu-ray works perfectly, and gives me a third option for viewing favorite movies.I was a little anxious about having to get used to using Windows 7 but it is one sweet OS and was very easy to adjust to.It's as easy as using Windows XP, and offers a lot of useful features not found in XP.I absolutely love 7.Also, this machine is so quiet you can barely hear it running, even when the hard drive kicks in.I highly recommend the HPE-112y to anyone who is needing a high-end, high performance computer at a mid-range price.

(More customer reviews)Got these at my local high-end audio store.My Klipsch ProMedias died a noisy death the night before, but I wasn't in any hurry to replace the speakers.I was considering ordering a set of Focal computer speakers (either the Focal CMS 50 Powered Monitors or the Focal XS Speakers), but had yet to pull the trigger on the purchase.I was also considering waiting for B&W to ship their new computer speakers, but they're just tiny monitors, not unlike the Bose speakers, and I was looking for something with a little more woofer power.

I saw these set up in a demo room, along with the [[A2B Powered Multimedia Speaker System]], so decided to try them out.Let me tell you, the sound quality blew me away, especially for a set of inexpensive powered monitors!And the bamboo finish looks amazing, too!High quality digital files are clean and airy, with clear midrange and adequate mid-bass.For even better quality, I would recommend adding a sub, for which the speakers have RCA (L and R) jacks, so I guess you could add two subs if you really wanted to.Or maybe an extra set of speakers.The volume knob on the front of the left speaker has a very wide range, so you won't need to go into your computer volume control if you don't want to.Speaking of volume, these speakers get quite loud.Definitely louder and cleaner than my old ProMedias, which were pretty good computer speakers for five years ago.

There is a USB charging port on the top of the left speaker, along with another 3.5mm audio in port.The back of the left speaker has the RCA jacks for audio out, and below that there is the primary 3.5mm audio in port.There is also a 110V power connector and the on/off switch, in addition to the fuse.The two speakers connect with an included 18 guage speaker cable (I'm guessing on the guage.It might be a 16 guage cable), which is about 4-6 ft long.The speakers are fairly heavy and solid.The bamboo finish is clean and smooth, covering the front and along the sides, top & (probably) the bottom.There is felt covering the bottoms of the speakers, which is nice.There is a blue LED on the front of the left speaker, which is not annoyingly bright like some computer accessories.

The only thing I wish these speakers had would be an option to plug them into USB instead of the standard 3.5mm phono plug, which could have turned the USB charging port on the top of the left speaker into an actual USB hub.Not a big deal, though.

This is a very attractive set of monitor speakers, and will look fine in just about any decor.As soon as I get a chance, I'll take a photo of them and post it.They would make really great dorm speakers, especially with a powered subwoofer of some type.These are akin to the baby Infinity speakers many of us probably got when we were in college or living in a smaller apartment, though of a higher finish quality.They would also work well in tandem with an Apple's AirPort Express to be used as bedroom/workshop/basement/etc... speakers, controlled through iTunes via an iPod Touch or iPhone using Apple's Remote application.

I never got a chance to hear the Focal or B&W computer speakers, and I'm sure they're quite good, but I doubt they're substantially better (if at all) than the Audioengine 5 monitors.And for many people, these speakers will look better.If you're considering computer speakers in this price range, I highly recommend that you check these out somewhere.You will not regret it!

These speakers get five stars from me.Outstanding.

Still worth five stars, but after hooking up my powered sub, I realized that the line-out jacks on the back don't change in volume with the volume control knob on the front of the left speaker.This means that to keep the same sub level, you'll have to control the volume from your computer or get a USB volume control knob like the Griffin PowerMate.Fortunately, I have a PowerMate, so I just hooked it up, installed the latest Mac driver, and it worked!

For some reason, the speakers seem to "sleep" on my iMac.For instance, if I come back to the computer after awhile, I have to adjust the volume control on my computer once to get the speakers to wake up.Not sure why this is, but I'm pretty sure it's the speakers and not the computer.This is slightly annoying, but probably won't change my recommendation.I have no idea if it's just my setup or if it's endemic of the speakers.

Zoom 3G WiFi Router Review

(More customer reviews)The Zoom 3G Wireless Router Model 4501 for USB Modems (identified here at Amazon as 11N 3Ghz Wifi Router) ranks right up there with sliced bread and canned beer as a world-class idea. This is a dynamite product at a fair price. But, before I review the router, let me describe the situation it rectified so well.

I live in the boondocks where either high-speed telephone or cable connection to the internet is not an option. My phone lines are buried underground, resulting in connection quality that barely allows 28,800 modem connections on the best days.

This problem was solved when I subscribed to Verizon's mobile broadband service and plugged their Pantech USB modem into my computer. (Verizon was the only supplier with 3G coverage where I live.) Download speed often approaches 3000 kpbs, with 1700-2000 about the norm. I couldn't be happier.

Except for one problem. With the USB modem plugged into my laptop, my wife couldn't use her desktop for internet access. So, I'd log off and give her the modem to plug in so she could log on.

I had seen USB modem routers at Best Buy for about $200. My inconvenience wasn't worth that much. But when I spotted the Model 4501 for about $70, I thought it was worth a try.

To make a long story short, when it arrived I took it out of the box, plugged it in, plugged my USB modem into the back, and turned on my laptop. No setup; I didn't read a word of the instructions. And it worked perfectly. I was on line.

At the time I ordered the router I also purchased a Zoom Wireless 802.11 B/G USB Adapter. (It made sense to keep a family together.) This I installed in my wife's desktop. We've been using the USB Modem/WiFi connection for three weeks now. I've never been dropped from the network and there's been no degradation in performance from when the USB modem is plugged directly into the computer. (I check my connect speed regularly with Speed Test at [...]) I've used my Asus laptop and Samsung netbook in my office over my garage, which is more than 100 feet from my house. No problems.

I will set up security one of these days. But since I have no neighbors living within broadcast range of the router, I'm not terribly concerned.

This is a great product at a great price. I couldn't be happier.
