(More customer reviews)This is the Dell Studio 15 inch laptop (Green Colored Case). I think this a great lap top and it gets the job done. I kept reading all the negative reviews and i have no idea why there's so much bad press. I have never once called customer service and i ordered my laptop at Dell directly through their website. I have no reason to contact customer service and i never experienced any problems at all with any of my Dell products. I get so baffled when i read all these negative reviews. My Dell products which i have had for years including a Dell desktop and a recently purchased new netbooks have never been a problem. The desk top i have is more than 6 years old and I never have any problems. It runs great. It can definitely benefit from an upgrade in some areas.

The Studio line is Dell's midrange laptops. The Inspiron being there low end range for consumers that just need a standard laptop. The Dell Studio laptop is completely plastic and it's a bit on the heavy side in my opinion. Maybe because i am so use to my light weight Dell 10 min netbook that i have been spoiled. This is a good lap top. However, i think the flaw in Dell is that their products can get very pricey very quickly. Especially when you are adding in high end features like 6GB RAM rather than 3GB RAM or 2.99GHZ instead of 2.33GHZ etc. You can get the same thing at HP for probably around a hundred dollars less and their quality feels a bit more refined, polished, and sturdy. That being said if you check Dell's website they do have deals going on all the time especially on holidays. But for some reason the price never seems as low as it should be. If you check periodically you will find yourself a deal. I go to that website religiously and build the exact same laptop that I have and it always comes up to more money. I got mine on a special promo.

I really regret getting the green covered case. I didn't realize how bright it would be and once i opened it out of the box - I really wish i purchased the Dark Blue or Dark Purple colored case. It's really way too bright. I like the personalization options of the different colors, but i really do regret getting this bright Caribbean green color. My laptop also includes the backlit keyboard which is great for typing in the dark. It also has touch sensitive controls towards the top of the keyboard near the speakers and i think that's a great plus. The DVD is also an optical drive, so there is no door that slides out for you to pop in your DVD. It's like a Playstation 3 slot. You slide the DVDs in & out.

Intel Media Series ATX Motherboard BOXDH55HC Review

This is a great motherboard when configured correctly.
Remember that the processor you purchase needs to support intel Graphics, otherwise you'll have to buy a separate pcie video card.

here's the link to the intel site for a list of processors that support integrated graphics, NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO i7 PROCESSORS IN THIS LIST:
since links are disabled try googling: "Which Intel? desktop processors contain integrated graphics"

the board comes with the voltage for ram set at 1.5V which usually needs to be increased to 1.6 or 1.65, (it's under the performace tab; change the memory profile)

I purchased an 8gb (4x2) from KomputerBay to work with this and found that I had to lower the "multiplier" to 8 to get it to POST.

The integrated DVI slot does not have a '+' style connector so you cannot use an adapter and have dual VGA ports, but you CAN have a DVI and VGA running at the same time without buying a video card.

It runs smoothly, didn't come with a lot of garbage on it (a few games that I won't use, but not a lot of the normal 'bloat' that many computers come with), and has enough power to run most applications without really breaking a sweat. In addition to high def and streaming video playback, word processing, and picture editing, I play a number of video games both on and offline. While I normally use my desktop computer to play, I was recently traveling and used this laptop instead. It performed well. It ran each game at respectable speeds (not choppy or broken up) when I used moderate graphics settings. The machine is fairly light, the screen is clear, and it resumes from sleep mode in under 5 seconds, which is great. If I have one complaint, its that the reflective portions of the case (both on the outside around the screen) are finger print magnets. Amazon accidentially sent me the "black" color instead of the "Graphite Radiant Burst" that I ordered, so I'm not sure if its less of an issue on that model (maybe the pattern helps hide the prints? not sure). Overall, I'm someone who demands a lot from my computers and I've been very happy with the RF510-SO1 so far.

(More customer reviews)I bought this in a combo with a Biostar TH55B HD to upgrade a household server running 24/7. Goal was to achieve fastest speed with least energy use and stress on components (longest life). I set all voltages to their lowest in the Biostar's BIOS: CPU -.08V (~1.092 max. in CPU-Z, ~.082 min. EIST), VTT 1.15, PLL 1.8, PCH 1.1, IGD "Spec" i.e. lowest. To my surprise, reached a stable overclock of 3.608 GHz (22 x 164), which has passed every test I've thrown at it and has been running for a week now. (Posted a screen shot of one test above.) Temps are no issue with stock cooler--no surprise there. At idle, my Kill-a-Watt readings for the system with integrated graphics enabled, 1.5V DRAM, Corsair 80+ 400W PS and 1 HD spinning (not including monitor) is an amazing 39W. With 3 HDs spinning and 100% CPU (IntelBurnTest) the highest reading I've seen is 86W. Of course, if you're 3-D gaming with the GPU overclocked under the same circumstances the draw would be greater. But, with four threads (HT) at 3.6 GHz on tap, idling at 39W, this is incredible power per watt for 24/7 running, not to mention per dollar.

(More customer reviews)Incredible processor for the money. Absolutely the best bang for buck CPU on the market right now. I laughed when this thing opened Photoshop in a couple of seconds. It eats anything in its path and blitzes through games. As a test, I opened about 20 applications (including Photoshop with it's heavy memory requirements) and switched quickly between programs in order to try and trip the CPU up. While I did this, I was playing music from a playlist of several thousand songs, painting/editing an image in PS, and most importantly, running Windows XP in a virtual machine inside Windows 7. 1GB RAM was dedicated to XP, along with 64MB of graphics memory. Would you believe it, there was no lag. Awesome.

I'm using it with a Gigabyte GA-P55 UD3R board, 2 x 2GB Patriot Viper II 'Sector 5' 1600MHz RAM, and Samsung's (latest) Spinpoint F3 hard drive (model HD501HJ). OS is Windows 7 32-bit. The whole thing runs beautifully! Just a heads up -- Windows 7 32-bit will only use 3.5GB RAM. No use buying more than 4GB in a 32-bit environment, and you need to make sure you buy RAM that will run at 1.65V or less. Do your homework before buying.

Had this thing doing 4GHz on the stock cooler with just a minor bump in voltage, mainly just to see how well it overclocks and scales with voltage increases. No complaints at all. The cooler will definitely be replaced as soon as funds permit. The stock Intel cooler is abysmal. I would not recommend anything but a minor OC using it. The cooler to buy for this CPU is the Prolimatech Megahalems, which isn't cheap, but those looking for superior performance need look no further. The Megahalems is the best choice.

Dynamic overclocking using Turbo Mode is excellent. The stock multiplier for the 750 is 20x. Using a Gigabyte P55 board, the multiplier goes as high as 24x when dynamically overclocking. Power consumption at idle during light tasks such as web surfing and playing music is fantastic. According to Everest, it uses just under 7 watts at idle. I feel this is an important point considering the current state of the economy. Any saving on electricity bills is worth thinking about unless you have money to burn. My sweet spot seems to be 148 BCLK (2.94GHz). At this speed, the CPU is able to dynamically overclock up to around 3.5Ghz and then lower the multiplier down to 9x when idle, which of course lowers the frequency, which of course means lower electricity bills.

Thanks, Intel, for making a great processor at a reasonable price. An i7 system running on X58 chipset would have cost a lot more. I wasn't prepared to pay the price because I am not a fool. I am more than happy with the i5 750, it's a very impressive CPU that should serve anybody well for a good few years.
