Minoru 3D Webcam (Red/Chrome) Review

(More customer reviews)I don't have a lot to say, since I only tried this cam briefly at the CES 2009 show where they were launched. But since there are no other reviews, I figure I could help you some.

These devices DID work, but the image is not crystal clear. It reminds me a lot of those old 3D movies, like Creature From The Black Lagoon. People need to wear the goofy two color 3D glasses to see the image, and it still looks blurry...but it IS 3D, which is cool.

I'm going to buy one for the novelty of it, but certainly won't make it my main USB camera. I love the top of the line Logitechs, and they offer such a good image over Skype that anyone can see, not just people with special glasses. If you just want a great image, I highly recommend the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 - it's worth the price.

If you are interested in 3D fun, go for this one. And don't forget that it can also run just one camera and send a normal 2D image.

(More customer reviews)I really like my webcam.The picture is very clear on MSN messenger and Yahoo.Furthermore, it works fine for me with only one light on in the room.My fiance has a much more expensive camera that is grainy with a brown-tint to the picture.In contrast to his camera, mine is clear.

The clip:For me, the clip worked fine.I have a Toshiba Satellite.Also, having no desire to move the webcam all around, the short cord is sufficient.

Overall, happy with my purchase.I have a logitech headset (note:Without the headset I did experience an echo when I talked) that I use with the camera.

I like the camera, and am (thus far) not disappointed.

Quick 1.3MP WebCam with Night Vision (Red) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this webcam at Office Depot yesterday. I was a little unsure considering the fact it was only 1.3 MP but it was only $14.99 and I needed one for college so I thought why not? It was either this or a $30 Susan G. Komen 5.0 MP cam on sale, sorry but I'm a poor college kid so I went for the lower priced one.

Basically, the set up is really simple.
You plug in the webcam through a usb port and then insert the disc. The set up maybe took about 5 min at most considering you had to restart your comp but that's it.

The camera works well on Skype. The image is crystal clear only its a bit slow but its not that bad, at least the other person can see you very well and your movements. So out of a 1-10 the cam gets an 8.

The microphone works very well, it just needs to adjust but other than that, I'd give it a 9.

So overall the cam works very well and yes, I'm basing the quality on how it worked with Skype.
I highly recommend this webcam to your avg. poor college student or to anyone looking for a decent webcam for not a high price.

The drama involved in opening the iSight is similar to an iPod.They use the same type of clamshell packaging.The camera is beautiful, though a bit larger than I thought--albeit lightweight.Plugged it in, fired up iChat, and it installed the latest iSight software [To the iSight?Not sure.].

That's where the kudos end.The picture was not acceptable in medium light.I had a QuickCam Pro 3000 [RIP] before this, so I have a point of reference.The image I saw was not what I excepted for a camera that costed twice as much as the previous camera.

The Mac OS X integration is great, you can record movies from QuickTime Pro [cool].It also works with iSPQ VideoChat, my chat software.

I did find a solution for the dark image, iGlasses.This $8 program does what Apple should have done to begin with, it allows you to fine tune the iSight's video.

With iGlasses installed, iSight's rating went to 4, from a definite 3.

what i did notice was that the quality of each frame was pretty damn good, the rate was dependent on the lighting available but that is to be expected.when i downloaded the drivers for it they are just basic, there is no drier for the button on the top of the camera nor the mic its supposed to have so it is just a basic camera with a good quality and a great auto aperture.

It doesnt come with a disk which i honestly thought was wonderful, because i always thought it was a hassel to install the disk but this webcam doesnt have one! Although your computer wont be able to find the webcam if you look in your start menu, or folders it will find it easily on other sites. Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, ect. So you can take pictures and videos and upload them straight to the site. It is a hassel having to save the picture you just put on a site because the picture didnt save on your computer. It even works on cam sites, like chatroulette and youtube. The cam is shockingly small, the lense is no bigger then a raisin, the cams body is about the size of a dollar piece coin. Very small, but the little clip that is attacted to help it attach to your computer is a bit bigger and it has rubberish stuff that makes it not slip which is a plus because you dont have the cam slipping and sliding. Regardless of the size it takes moderatly good photos, same with the video recordings. If you take a vide it will pick up most sounds which is nice if your a quite talker, one of my favorite parts is that it didnt lagg, or move extra slow if you say moved our hand across the screen, the video would be perfectly insict with you. I would higly reccomend this! Its an excellent product, and exceptionally wonderful for the price.

Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000 Win USB Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this webcam to replace an extremely old (circa 1999) Logitech WebCam.Some of the other reviews here indicate that this webcam is junk, but I am very happy with it.Here's a few observations with respect to my own use and some of what I've read in other reviews here.

o Video Quality - I have no problem with it and have yet to have any "freezes".My guess is that freezes are more associated with network latency.I have not tried this over a LAN (very high speed local), but over a cable modem that is 7MBit down, 384k up.You have to take that into account before you blame the webcam.My 384k up is not very fast, for a cable modem, but that's Time Warner for you.Up north (NY/CT area), my peers enjoy 3Mbit upstream!Ugh!

o Software Install Location- Another reviewer brought this up.Who cares?This isn't a 4GB first person shooter, it's a few megs of drivers that mostly need to go under the windows folder anyhow.Non-issue.

o Software Install "eXPerience" - glad to say I had no issues.Install the software, plug in the camera when it asks, and I was good to go.I'm running XP Pro on a 3GHz "single core" (old school? heh) CPU.

o Application Compatibility - It's working great with both Windows Live Messenger and Skype (latest version, 3.8.0.115).

o Built-In Mic - This was a nice surprise for me.I recently purchased a SUB Logitech ClearChat Pro headset, but the built-in mic of this webcam lets me be headset free.I ask everyone I videochat with, can you hear me okay? (Answer: Yes), and do you hear feedback or your voice? (Answer: No).So I am very pleased.Of course, you can set Windows Live Messenger and Skype to use a headset microphone or other device, you don't have to use the built-in mic.

o "The Software" - Okay, the software that comes with the webcam is very basic.But if you want something better, you can get it for free from Microsoft.XP has "Windows Movie Maker" built in, you don't NEED to use the webcam software.Or go install the Windows Media Encoder, that's another free option.I've used both no problem.

In summary, I am very pleased with the performance of the VX-7000.You can record video at 640x480 or 800x600 without problem, and that's pretty good in my opinion.After all, 800x600 is better resolution than DVD video (720x480).If you need more, I don't think you should be looking at a webcam!I think, bottom line, this product is meant for and good at its intended use - video chatting over the internet.I would buy this again.

(More customer reviews)This camera is worth buying in this price range for people who generally use Windows Live products (messenger, etc) and normally do basic web cam sessions with a resolution no greater than 640 x 480. If you'd like to do full screen video using other software like Skype, you'll want to get a higher end Microsoft camera or something like the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 (my favorite).I've been using the Quickcam Pro 9000 for the past year and have really liked it, however, it seems to be at least double the price of this MS camera. One downside to this Microsoft camera is that the microphone can be a bit faint and the sound can be a bit off.That said, unless you have high expectations for crystal clear web cam chats, then I can certainly recommend this camera for people mainly interested in ease of use with Windows Live Messenger and other Instant Messaging programs.It was easy to install and is extremely easy to use.I recorded this video in 320x240 resolution using the included software. (More customer reviews)I just want to confirm that this camera is indeed compatible with a Mac, and works reasonably well with Skype. My set up: 1.5 GHz Powerbook G4, Mac OS X 10.4.8, Skype 2.5.0.85, macam 0.9.1 driver. The refresh rate is not that high, subjectively at about 10 fps. Mic on the camera does not work, but the Powerbook built-in mic works very well. Headphones are not necessary but desirable to eliminate echo. The camera produces good focus and depth of field, and auto adjusts to different lighting conditions. Overall, video quality is not outstanding, but pretty decent and quite usable with Skype.

Logitech QuickCam Connect (Silver/Black) Review

(More customer reviews)This is a decent webcam for the price, but it cannot be compared with higher-end cameras. Overall the installation and configuration is quite simple; load in the drivers, plug in the camera and you're all set. The camera comes with a small program that allows you to adjust certain settings on the camera, such as brightness and hue, and the software also allows for still-picture and video capture. While still pictures can be 1.3 megapixel, unfortunately the highest resolution allows for recording a movie (as distinguished from video chatting) is 640x480. I don't know the reason for this, but it seems to be exclusively to limit users of lower-priced cameras. The software also has some extras, such as the ability to use "filters" that create effects on the image for when you're chatting or recording video. These are pretty useless, but I suppose they're free so there's no sense in complaining. Advanced features like the ability to have avatars instead of your face, or to add digital accessories to your image are limited to the higher-end cameras and can not be used on this device.

The picture quality goes from good (not great) to horrible based, as near as I can tell, on the lighting. With good light, the image does not lag much or get blurry, and it is perfectly adequate for video chatting. As the lighting decreases, so does the image quality, to the point of being almost unusable. If you don't have good lighting in the room where you expect to be using this camera, you're going to have to get a light source or you'll be sorely disappointed with the quality of this camera.

As for the audio quality of the microphone, I've been pretty impressed. The software allows configuration of the microphone, which is very nice - you don't feel like you need to shout to be heard, and conversations are very natural.

Overall it's a decent cam, but it's worth spending the extra money for better equipment if you're serious about either recording anything (i.e. YouTube monologues or video mail) or making sure that your friends get the best picture of you when you cam.
