(More customer reviews)I had a Hitachi Travelstar installed on my laptop. The other day I dropped it and crashed the hard-drive. I bought this Samsung HDD not knowing it is PATA (was not enough information available from Amazon). Once arrived, I was skeptical that it would work with IDE port. Sure enough, it is compatible and works fine. It does not only work fine, it works better than the older Travelstar HDD. It is quieter and seems to be faster. I know IDE and ATA drives are being phased out by new SATA drives, but for the people - like me - stuck with older computers, this is the best replacement of technology and best value for the money.
