(More customer reviews)To mount a 3.5" hard drive in a 5.25" (CD/DVD) bay, this is all you need...and the price is right.You may spend a few minutes trying to figure out which way is up with these guys, but install it as shown in the photo linked to this page, and you'll have no trouble.The *slots* go against the drive, and your screw driver goes through the large oval holes to tighten them down.Then there are 4 machine screw holes on the outer flange to let you mount everything to your case.

Screws are included...If you don't have nimble fingers, you'll probably end up frustrated trying to get them started.It goes without saying that you shouldn't succumb to the temptation to use a magnetic screw driver when installing a hard drive.

PSATA IDE Ultra ATA 100/133 To SATA Converter Adapter Review

(More customer reviews)I wanted to say that I was able to get this adapter to work in the Intel D865GBF, D865GLC and D875PBZ series of motherboards -- this is the important part to note, this adapter will ONLY work when plugged into the back of an IDE hard drive or DVD/CDROM device! This device is only meant to convert in that direction only. If you try to plug it into a motherboard's 40pin IDE port hoping that it will convert to SATA hard drives or DVD/CDROMs, it will NOT do that! There is a different adapter sold on amazon that has two SATA connectors, one for each direction if you intend to have a bi-directional adapter.

Here are two important TIPs, make sure the connector is plugged in over all 40 IDE pins, I have made the mistake more then once of not centering the plug over all 40 pins and be off by one column and therefore causing it to not work. The second one is probably more crucial, the pins on the back of the board almost butt up and make contact to the hard drives metal case -- which if it does that, it will short circuit the power supply and cause it to blow or short circuit!! What I recommend is that you put some electrical tape on the back side to cover the exposed metal pins so it wont make contact to the hard drive case. Or you can just make sure you dont plug the IDE connector all the way in, leaving a small gap -- but this may prevent the data pins from making full contact if you do this...You can also use non-conductive anti-static foam or bag to create a protective barrier.
