(More customer reviews)This is the first computer I've bought in about ten years that I didn't build myself.The first thing I did when it arrived was pop open the case and see how it was put together.The motherboard, video card, and PS are all Dell-branded, so I don't know about the quality of them.But the design and layout of the case, and the quality of assembly, is beyond reproach.The Aurora is a work of of art on the outside AND the inside.

There is no bloatware installed, and only a handful of applications.The included anti-virus has a one-year subscription.

One thing to note - the system does not have 3 DIMMs as listed in the specs (and it shouldn't, since it is a P55 system).It has 2 x 2GB and 2 x 1GB DIMMs which of course makes much more sense.Mine had Samsung modules for the 2GB sticks and and Elpida modules for the 1GB sticks.

The service tags for these machines are currently not set up correctly on Dell's support page.When looking for driver and bios updates, instead of entering your service tag, choose the option to select by model and then pick the the Alienware Aurora R2.Otherwise, you'll incorrectly get updates for the regular Aurora, which is an X58 system not a P55 system.

I've been torture-testing the machine for 96 hours and so far it hasn't even hiccuped.It's pretty quiet too, even with all 8 threads / 4 cores and the video card at 100% usage.Internal CPU core temps have not gotten above 58C, and the internal vid card temp has not gotten above 65C.

Benchmark performance is about what you'd expect from a high-end i7-860 machine.

So overall, this is a well-designed, well-built system with no bloatware.Five stars, for sure.
