(More customer reviews)I picked this out for a replacement of a much older device that was similar to this one and I'm quite pleased with it!
It has all the software contained within the device so no need to have a driver disk installed into each computer, just plug it in and Win XP will take care of the setup for you. It's so simple it's ridiculous.
Pros:
Plug and play: plug it in and let it do it's thing!
Simple software that anyone with a 1/10 of a brain can figure out
has a nice long cable between the connections
comes with a carry pouch
comes with a velcro strap to keep the cable tidy
Cons:
The head of the main head on this unit of the device is kind of large so you may need to unplug other USB devices to fit this into the USB port. For some computers you may need to plug it into the back of the computer due to the size fact that some USB ports are set into the devices too far and this will be hard to get into there.
The price isn't bad but could always be better, I rather like this though and it will go in my laptop bag for when I need to get at large files or give large files when I'm out and about. No need to transfer to a disk, USB flash drive, or hook into the other persons network anymore. just plug into their USB port and be done with it.

This device is limited not only by the processors involved but the hard drive speed capabilities. If your HDD is just a basic 7200 RPM drive it's likely that's it's not going to be able to read or write faster than 100-125MbPS. So you only get the benefit of high speed transfers if you are running a couple of these drives in RAID or running a high speed drive. So you should take those ideas into consideration when you are trying to run at high speeds.
