(More customer reviews)Like the title says, this is the best dual-core of any dual-core AMD offerings today at a price well below the Intel offerings AND it supports AM3 and DDR3. This 64-bit processor runs cool and sips power, which is great for heat/power sensitive systems or users that just want to conserve energy. I used this CPU in a mid-range Windows 7 system I built for my son and I couldn't be happier with the price/performance ratio.
It's stock 3GHz with 1MB cache per core is fast enough to run most games and anything else the average user throws at it. I overclocked mine to a stable 3.6 GHz using the controls on my MSI motherboard, but I didn't notice much of a performance gain I so returned it to stock. We've played a few games on it, watched streaming web video, surfed the web with lots of tabs open and edited photos in CorelDraw X5 with no slowdowns or hiccups. The X2 250 keeps it's cool even with a small stock fan.
I wouldn't recommend this to a gaming enthusiast looking to build a high-end system to run the latest 3D games or for someone doing heavy video encoding or editing, but for everyone else this CPU should be more than enough.
