(More customer reviews)We take a lot of pictures, but I can't convince my wife to move to a digital camera.That leaves me with the problem of getting all of our snap-shots posted on our webpage.I have a regular full-size flat bed scanner, but I hated scanning pictures with it because it took forever to do each picture, it did not have one-button scan and also took up a ton of desk space.I started exploring for a small photo scanner.I found this scanner and one from photoscanner... Both are small.The HP is only 300x300dpi where the photoscanner... one is 600x1200 dpi.However, the photoscanner...one is $[money]and the HP is only $[money].I choose the HP and have been very happy.It is quick and provides nice quality for webpages, but not great printable quality.However, if you need a photo scanner to scan photos AND PRINT THEM, I would suggest that get something else. Again, if you just need to post to the web or email them, this is going to be just fine.

HP Quickdoc Docking Station Review

(More customer reviews)First off, I agree with the other reviewers - this should have come with a power supply.I shouldn't have to use the same one that came with my laptop, since the intention for most people is to be able to carry one with you as needed (it's not like these HPs are rated highly for battery life).And once I have the quickdock set up and everything plugged in, like everyone else I'd prefer to just leave it connected and plug/unplug my laptop as needed for instant access.Fortunately, in my case, I bought an extra power supply which was part of a package deal from HP that included a laptop case and usb mouse.Still, HP should have included this with the quickdock, although the recent price drop to $79 compensates for this somewhat.

That being said, I hooked this up to a new HP DV2210US laptop and it worked like a charm.No issues with pass-through video, and the laptop quickly recognized every device I attached to the dock, including an external cd/dvd drive, external hard drive, printer, keyboard, and mouse.Based on what I had read, I was expecting something to go wrong, but the only issue I encountered was getting video output, and that was a matter of adjusting Windows to recognize an external monitor and nothing at all to do with the Quickdock.I also like the fact that one cable on the dock provides everything - particularly power (recharging my laptop battery as well), along with video and access to all the quickdock ports.And as soon as I disconnect, the unit goes to sleep until I connect later.This is exactly what I was looking for, since my goal was to eliminate a larger desktop pc.At the same time, it doesn't require any quirky connections like older docking stations or take up any excess room on the desk.In fact, considering what you get it's smaller than I had expected.Since I just received this recently, I'll continue putting it through the paces and test the audio and s-video options as well.Beyond that, I think this is a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking for a quick and easy solution.

(More customer reviews)As an Apple devotee, I feel like a bit of a traitor writing a positive review of an HP product, but WOW this thing is great! I bought it as a second monitor to my MacBook. Apple MacBook MA701LL/A 13.3" Notebook PC (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive) - BlackThe color is brilliant, the contrast is impressive, the text pops and it's just plain beautiful to look at, even if you are working. I literally find myself working on things because I don't want to take my eyes off it.

While I love the look of Apple's cinema monitors, the price point is just so high. The HP w2207 represents a far more reasonable price point.Also, if you're a writer like me, HP makes a clip system for this series of monitors, so you can have a document holder off to the side without having to glue something to side of your monitor untiil the end of time.

If you're an art director, graphic designer, or similar artists thinking, "Ah-ha, this guy's a copywriter. What does he know about monitors?" Well I've been in advertising since 1996 and I've seen all kinds of monitors and this is one of the most impressive I've ever seen at any price.

Also, I took sometime to compare this model to others available for sale from a variety of manufacturers and no one matches the image quality in my opinion. This might seem strange for HP to come out on top in comparison to other companies that specialize in monitors, but the truth is people largely, buy their computers based on the quality and look of the monitor. Apple realized this early on and apparently someone told HP too. I wonder how many HP computer bundles are going to be sold based on the performance of this beauty?

Sure, it takes a little adjustment both on the monitor itself and on the display portion of the system preferences, but it's easy enough.

Plus, the built in speakers are much better than you'd expect from a monitor and the built in 2 USB hub is a nice little touch. More would have been better, but an extra usb port is always nice.

All of this said, there are some flaws with this monitor.

1. The rotating screen landscape-or-portrait function is great, but it doesn't work with the MacBook in Mac mode. What I'm talking about is the ability to physically turn the monitor and have the display go into a portrait arrangement. It's probably too much to ask for from a monitor made by a PC manufacturer, but it would have been nice if the software bundle would have included something for us, Mac people. It still works with the MacBook just fine in landscape mode, but it would have been nice to have this particular bell and whistle.

2. The monitor does have a DVI connection as well as an analog VGA connection, but it only comes with an analog VGA wire. Don't settle for VGA, when there's DVI to be had! Order a DVI wire with your order like this one.Cables To Go 2m DVI-D M/M Dual Link Digital Video Cable The response time is appreciably faster than with VGA. It's slight, but it's there.

3. Hopefully, this won't be an issue, but its warranty is for only one year, while others come with a three year warranty. This is a little disconcerting, but I'd rather have one year of looking at this screen than 3 years of looking at washed out or drab monitor.

4. The screen does pick up reflections more readily than other flat panels.

And even with these shortcomings, I've still got to give it 5 stars. It's just that beautiful!

UPDATE: Although mine did not, this monitor now does come with a DVI cable. So you won't need to buy one separately.

HP Pavilion Slimline Desktop PC - Black (s5360f) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this computer and got it about a month ago. The reasons I got it were the quad core processor, 6 gigs of RAM, HDMI output, wifi, and wireless keyboard/mouse combo. All for $650.

This thing is lightning fast all the time, I barely ever moved the pc usage meters. Windows 7 is the coolest ever, XP was great but this blows it away. I also have Office 2010 Pro, again awesome.

Another great feature of this pc is the blu-ray dvd burner combo with litescribe. Though I haven't used it for the latter or blu-ray yet.

My only complaint isn't much of one, at a distance of 11-12 feet from my tower my mouse and keyboard aren't as responsive as closer, not a biggie.

For a great computer that is compact for a budget you can't go wrong with this. As far as monitors go, mine is hooked up to my 42" Samsung Plasma 720p, it looks great (with hdmi of course)

For several years now we have been using this kind of paper (any brand will do) to create animation drawings. For a pegbar, I use a modified wood ruler for 3-ring binders with short 5/8" dowel pieces glued into the 3 holes. The 3-hole punch paper slides over the dowels perfectly and keeps drawings registered. I always keep the holes on the top and usually draw with the aid of a Light Tracer light box. You can even store your drawings in a 3-ring binder. D-ring styles are the best choice for this purpose.

(More customer reviews)Very nice computer. Came with Windows 7. This is a great improvement. Easy to transfer all info from old computer.
TV card is very nice although instructions on setting it up were a little lacking.Video resolution had to be cut down for the TV to play without lag on my flat screen monitor. Over all this is a good computer with plenty of power for the average user.
Some reviews commented on overheating but I have not had that issue after 1 month of use.

Wall Mount Adapter for Ts Vesa Review

(More customer reviews)Think of this as a conversion project. You will end up using 2 of 3 item supplied in the package. One unit replaces the 'kick stand' that comes with the PC. The other is an adapter plate that fits on to a Vesa spec wall mount. I went with a Peerless PF630 for the wall mount. The total time for this project was about 15 minutes.

-Four phillips screw on the back of the PC needs removing.
-The leg piece (aka kick stand) is replaced with the T-mount... 4 screw (above) needs to go back on.
-Vesa adapter plate is bolted on to the T-mount.
-PF630's face plate is bolted on to the Vesa adapter.
-Mount the PF630's base plate on to the wall.
-Slide face plate over base plate and its done...

The quality of the T mount and the adapter plate... very nice and definitely worth the [...]!!!

The only thing that bothers me is the additional T-mount piece for another HP PC variant. It is not used at all and I think it is such a waste of resources. I will give this product a 5 star rating for the fit, feel and simplicity of this project. I'm leaning on giving HP a 1 star rating on that additional 3rd piece...

(More customer reviews)Small and compact, fits perfectly in my book bag and weighs less than 3lbs.The battery life that I have experienced has been awesome, mine came with a 6-cell battery so I am looking at around 8 hours of battery life, but I haven't timed nor tested this.I read another comment that was posted regarding the size of the netbook with the 6-cell battery in place.I agree that the pictures do not illustrate this, however, we're talking an extra inch...maybe...in height on the backside.A plus to this extra inch is that the netbook now tilts forward which makes it easier for typing, kind of like the little "stilts" underneath a desktop keyboard.FYI, with the 6-cell battery in place it still fits in my caselogic 10.3in case/sleeve that I bought for it.

I have had my netbook for about a week now and I am really enjoying it.It gives me everything I need for school and now I don't have to move around a cumbersome laptop, not to mention the battery life is about 2.5 times longer than most laptops.

Perfect for taking notes in class, working through excel, viewing PowerPoint, and checking email.I plan on putting it in the kitchen when I am done with grad school so my wife and I can store recipes or anything else we may need.With the wireless hook up and the compact size for $350 this netbook is a great addition to your home network.

One thing to remember, most netbooks (if not all) do not have CD/DVD Drives, so loading software such as MS Office will require you to purchase an external Disc Drive, about $100, or you will have to borrow a friend's to load your software.The other option is downloading the desired software program off of the internet and loading the software that way.

*UPDATE* I've had my netbook for a few weeks now and it has proven to be one of the best electronic purchases I have ever made.The ability to type and organize my notes while in class is amazing, I will never go back to taking notes by hand.Also, the independent operating system that you can access without booting up the full windows 7 is phenomenal.It allows me to turn on my computer and be up in running in less than 8 seconds.I can access music, email, pictures, skype, chat, and the internet all from this quick boot-up feature.I simply can't say enough good about this netbook.Pure and simple - A Great Buy!

HP Pavilion P6110F Desktop PC Review

(More customer reviews)I just recently bought this machine at my local Office Depot store, and it's a wonderful, cheap powerhouse. I had a couple reasons for choosing this machine, and there are them:

(1). Its processor is Intel branded. Because of bad experiences with AMD, I only buy Intel.
(2). It has expansion slots, AKA it is a big tower, not those tiny, unexpandible towers. This is good for when I want to upgrade the weakest point of this machine: The graphics card.
(3). Lightscribe disc labeling technology.
(4). Built-in card reader
(5). Price! At 500, it's a steal, [...]
(6). RAM! 6GB is godly... I couldn't ask for more.
(7). Hard drive space... 640GB is wonderful as well for a machine of this price tag.

There are a couple let-downs, here are them:
(1). Graphics card. It is a built in decroded POS, and has problems playing Halo 1. I plan on upgrading this though, which is why I bought the larger version of this machine.
(2). Preinstalled programs... HP has this as its major let down. However, you can SLOWLY remove everything, and I just installed the Windows 7 RC which erased everything, as well as make the machine faster!

Overall, this is a great machine for the price. No slow downs at all, pretty quiet (I have a netbook with an SSD so I'm pampered with quiet computers), and it just works. I recommend it to anyone!

More info; 9/27/09:
Machine is still running incredibly well! I have added the EVGA *LOW POWER* 9600GT graphics card (which barely fits ;) ). It can now play just about everything... And, the low power makes the PSU not as stressed (it's pretty weak as a PSU) but it's all still working great. I've also added an eSATA external HDD part, and everything's perfect. I'll update later with any problems!

(More customer reviews)I recently got a ream of this paper as a promotional item at a local store; and I am very impressed. In fact, this multipurpose 96 brightness paper by Hewlett Packard gives you something to sing about! I use this paper with my inkjet printers; and I can use it to make signs to tape to my front door indicating to delivery people which doorbell to ring!

The paper is not expensive for all that you get; and it almost never jams in my printer at home. Nevertheless, I always fan the paper to make sure that it doesn't jam. After I fan the paper to make sure two pieces of paper aren't stuck to each other, then I place it in my inkjet printer.

In addition, this paper can also be used in laser printers, copiers and plain paper fax machine. Each page is a clean cut 8 ? inches by 11 inches. Great!

This paper never "goes stale," so stock up on it if you can catch a sale on it. Moreover, this is excellent paper that avoids ink from smearing as it is printed on the page. Great!

I don't know what to say about the Amazon price--as of this writing it states that this one ream package costs $12.88. This is either a misprint or maybe you get more than one package for that price; Amazon fails to clarify this. Obviously, however, you shouldn't be paying $12.88 for a single ream of paper. The price may be a misprint or it may be for more than one package; I cannot be sure. Sorry!

HP Wireless 3 Button Mouse in Retail Packaging Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a wireless mouse to accompany my new HP Wireless Elite keyboardHP Wireless Elite Keyboard. Ironically my search led me back to HP. I am so impressed with the keyboard I thought I would give the mouse a try. Most other wireless mouse's reviews complain of interference, lag, etc. I see absolutely none here. The sensitivity is higher than I'm used to but that's configurable. It's actually great because I have to move my hands less! I can get across the screen completely while still on my arm rest. I can use both the mouse and keyboard from 12 feet across the room and not have to worry about where my wire is, or if I'm going to run over a wire with my chair, or if it can reach.

I was also blown away by how smoothly the mouse glides on a desk. It's like ice but still with some grab so it's controllable.
More of a nitpick than anything: The mouse is a glossy black which I love... but it's a fingerprint magnet. The sides are slightly concaved and it fits my rather large hands pretty comfortably. The buttons just part of the front plastic and bend when you click. Strange but works. The wheel is very comfortable and works well too.

I wouldn't recommend a wireless mouse (or keyboard for that matter) if you're a hardcore gamer. I would recommend a wired thin chicklet style keyboard (which is surprisingly hard to find... I couldn't find a wired one hence i have the wireless one) and wired mouse. But for general usage, music, movies, using programs, it's just fine.So rather than continuing to rant I recommend you buy this right now. If you don't like it (which would be very surprising) you could return it.

Just as a side-note, if you do want to do the keyboard-mouse combo, it is cheaper on amazon right now to buy each separately rather than the combo they offer.

HP Pavilion p6520f Desktop PC - Black Review

(More customer reviews)I was able to pick this computer up for $450 from Amazon at the end of June which is an awesome deal for a quad-core PC. I just got the PC up and running yesterday and it was a snap. For a beginner user with Internet connectivity you can be up and running with this computer in less than a half hour including plugging everything in and setup. Registration took 5 minutes once I pushed the power button for the first time. There were about 30 Windows 7 updates but only a few that were critical. The rest were postponed automatically until 3 AM. I spent an hour looking at the pre-bundled software and uninstalling a lot of it. For a beginner though this step is not necessary. I was amazed at how many hyperlink shortcuts were on this computer disguised as software.

This computer was purchased as a replacement for a 3-year-old HP MediaCenter PC that got fried in an electrical storm. The wrecked HP had an upgraded 400W power supply and DVD-burner that still worked so I transferred those easily into the p6520f. I am considering adding a TV tuner card as well. If you're going to do any upgrades to this HP I would highly recommend a new power supply, the standard power supply is only 250W which is a bare minimum. Inside the box is wide open, it was very easy to add the power supply and DVD drive. One thing I noticed was the lack of full size PCI expansion slots but there was tons of room for additional drives which you shouldn't need with 1 terabyte of disk space.

The video quality is good. I am using the DVI connection included on the p6520f with a 3-year-old, HP, 22-inch, wide screen LCD. I plugged in my Panasonic DV camera and it was immediately recognized. There are two options for getting video off a camcorder both using pre-installed software. Both were easy to use and the CyberDirector offering looks like a good editor for the average home video, Ridley Scott, wannabe. Two years ago I spent close to $100 on similar CyberDirector software.

The HP p6520f can work for either a brand new computer user or an experienced user as well. Setup is simple for someone that just wants to get up and running quickly with options down the road. While an experienced user can open the cover andadd beefy graphics cards, additional hard drives, or even a Blu-Ray player. I read online where this AMD processor can be overclocked to 3.3+ gHz without undue strain.

I was initially looking at a Gateway for $530 but I'm glad I went with this model. Even for the current price of $600 this is a good buy. This is my second HP desktop and I also have an HP laptop, they are still a good brand in my book.
